James Harden - Superb Separation (Iso King) 17/18 Part 1
Спорт
James Harden. 2018 NBA Most Valuable Player. 6x NBA All-Star. 4x All-NBA First Teamer. 2013 All-NBA Third Team. 2012’s Sixth Man of the Year. Led the league in assists in 2017 (and finished second in scoring). 2018’s scoring champion. 2x USA Basketball Gold Medalist (2012 Olympics in London and the 2014 FIBA World Cup of Basketball in Spain). The Beard is a bucket, and an abusive one at that. He gave it to defenses in every conceivable way: Harden was the league leader in points per game (30.4), 3 point field goals made (265, compared to second place Paul George’s 244) and attempted, free throws made (624, compared to second place Anthony Davis’ 495) and attempted (on 86% shooting), he also generated 8.8 assists per game (good for third in the league, behind Russell Westbrook and LeBron James). He lead the league in Player Efficiency Rating (PER) with 29.8, Win Shares, Box Plus/Minus, and finished second to only LeBron James in terms of his Value Over Replacement Player.
The Beard broke down defenses with his dizzying, dazzling dribbling. He danced and danced until his defenders were dazed and confused. Until they rocked to and fro from his riveting and rhythmic movements. He’d shift and tilt and jab and jerk and juke and then hesitate and devastate. He had his guy whirling and twirling and then he’d turn on the afterburners with his frightfully forceful first step and then it was over. He’d either muscle his way to the cup, read the direction the defense is leaning and fire the perfect pass, bust out the insane in-between game he’s honed over the years, or rock his signature stepback for a more or less (to him) open jumper.
(Then again, what else would you have expected from the man when he works with PJ Performance? If you haven’t given that guy a follow yet, I would strongly recommend it. A link is available in my “featured channels” section. His page is crucial for basketball knowledge and to become a better athlete in general.)
The Rockets decided that the optimal way to play this past season was to utilize two of best shot creators in the league. With Harden’s potential being truly unlocked by the D’Antoni/move to point guard fusion in 2016/17, many wondered how exactly Chris Paul’s arrival would impact Harden. What ended up happening seemed like an anomaly. In the era of pace and space, and secondary break action, Harden and Paul were isolating for large chunks of the shot clock. The reason was obvious: from day one, they were preparation and perfecting a game plan with which to attack the practically unbeatable Golden State Warriors: work the early offense and get a great shot, or use their flow to force a mismatch via the switch, and isolate and devastate that switch. Ultimately, it resulted in falling just short (by virtue of missing a historic number of three point field goal attempts (giving annoying life to pointless argument “live by the three, die by the three”)) of doing something that seemed unimaginable since Kevin Durant decided to take his talents to the 73-9 Warriors…but man oh man, did James Harden light up the league in the about 90 games he played this season.
These are for the regular season only, and feature no finishes at the basket or passes.
But here's part 2: • James Harden - Superb ...

Good to see Harden practicing social distancing
Harden's hesitations are lethal.
harden highlights are the most beautiful to watch but 1 day I watched a full game and saw him put up 20 3's. usually that's supposed to be an entire team but he did it by himself and only scored like 5 but no doubt his dribbling and separation is one of a kind
It's just a matter of if he's on or off. Nobody can stop him. And he makes it look so freaking easy.
It annoys me how so casual he is about taking ankles, meanwhile I’m struggling for air and airballing the damn thing
That’s the cleanest Shots Shooting I’ve ever seen! Way 2 Go Harding! Reinventing the Fade-away Jumper with a Side-Step or a Step Back. Clever

Everyone who’s in love and highly impressed with Harden’s game will without doubt say they know basketball... Just like every coach or organization will say they know basketball.... Why do you think some organizations win more than others? Some analyze what actually wins games.... Some can’t look past a score.....

He travels more than nomads
Greatest of all time
Damn. And to think Harden, Westbrook, and KD were in the same team a few years back.
MVP
His team travel Game pretty lengedry
Harden's shoes gotta have the best traction out of all the players lol. At this point, his stepback should be along the same level as Kareem's skyhook. Everybody knows he's gonna do it, but nobody can stop it consistently. Something this video doesn't show tho is how good Harden is at blowing by someone. That's why those stepbacks are so effective cos he can just as easily blow by someone instead of stepping back so they bite
Brought to you by the travel channel 😂
James Harden is the G.O.A.T. of Traveling and oh lay defense and the prince of Ball Hogging... (Kobe is the King of Ball Hogging)
He repeats the dribble move between the left legs circling over and over creating little separation for him to crossover and drive or step back
King of traveling violations.

There is a patan to harden's step back, as he is sizing up the defender he wants them to give him a direction and then which ever direction they give him is wea the step back will be
Some of those defenders was all on him and he still hit nothing but net

Harden on that park sh*t ! !
I don't understand how this push off with the forearm into the defender is not an offensive foul.
So on the second step back after he broke his ankle he does a step back and then another step back to get in 3-point range. If you pay attention to the step backs where he does it one step back he's adjusting both feet before he shoots. It's traveling at it's peak, he's talented but still traveling.
I have never seen two man screen help before a player. Or i never noticed.
Marv Albert: "Harden, Just 6 for 20, but he has 29 pts...." bout sums it up for James H.

Death By Ostrich you do know he shoots around 45% for his career ; that’s the same as Kobe
There was no separation with Manu. The defender was still at the zone
Harden's step back look like piano
3:37 Curry break dance 😂
Is it me or can he not shoot a regulation jump shot? Even when wide open in the mid range after blowing by a defender, he always pauses, retreats back, gathers his footing and opts for a step back despite unopposed. Not that I'm criticising, cause it obviously works real well for him.

NotAcasual BBallfan True, but as in 3:25, where he's clearly wide open for a mid range J, he still opts for a mid range step back despite no defender within vicinity to block his shot I just wonder whether it's a case of him just being so used to shooting a step back regardless of circumstance Again, not criticising him of course because it's so damn effective for him lol

Master your craft. What’s the point of being good at many things when clearly being GREAT at a few things can find you a million dollars and being deemed unstoppable? To answer: no I don’t think he can shoot a regulation jump shot
He literally ended wesley johnson’s career w that. I haven’t seen the man play since 😂
man has the most suspicious stepback before the league changed rules
It's an educational video about social distancing.

I watched this in super slow-mo, and most of the step back are three steps process. The first step is not off the dribble which we can considered a zero step or the gathered step. Why can’t NBA ref just review all Harden moves in super slow-mo?
