Great version. Love and Money was totally underrated. Their songs and lyrics stand the test of time.

James really understands dynamics in songs. He uses his vocal range cleverly. Plays to his strengths in the lower register where he is a rare beast alongside Mark Lanegan, Dave Gahan etc. but can go up when necessary. This leads to a varied listen across an album and interesting dynamics within songs. Only when I saw them live did I realise just how good a lead player he is. His acoustic 'flat picking' is high class too. This is no easy skill. To pick with such accuracy in the acoustic ballads he plays while singing with such control is quite something. I've seen him numerous times solo and he sits patiently in the song, drawing the listener in like few can. He writes brilliant songs which are rooted in the past but never cliched. He is a rare talent, the likes we may never see again in Scotland. He is the complete package and was so as a very young man. All that said, where he is truly world class is in his lyrics.

Thanks for that statement mate. I love everything British, Scottish and Ireland. What I don't like is imperialism and the want to rule world. Humbleness is due.

James Grant is one of the finest singer/songwriters to come out of Glasgow in the last 30 years. I saw Love & Money at Glasgow Green many moons ago and realised how special they were.

I am shipwrecked in the night I watched a girl with eyes like thin ice Say "Dive into these pools of blue," But I tripped over you I curse these cool whispering lights I curse the things that keep me from you Again my patience makes the climb Will my tears buy me time? In your light I crumble, forgot what I'd been told I never thought that I could feel so old You're at the center of everything I do Wherever I go, I'll walk the last mile with you I heard you say, "Dissolve in my arms and run to fall in these meadows" But you're just a memory From a mocking old dream But I cling to my dreams I'm drawn to things that kill me It's safer to pretend But I'll deceive myself again I your light I crumble, forgot what I'd been told I never thought that I could feel so old You're at the center of everything I do Wherever I go, I'll walk the last mile with you I've seen the whole world turn to gold It's just like a fairground ride Sometimes it turns out That the tyrants are the pearls You'll always know, someone loves you in this world I want to burn like I burn I want to burn like I burn I wake up in the harsh light Spilled my heart in a cold night I've got too much time to kill I wrote you're name upon my wall I your light I crumble, forgot what I'd been told I never thought that I could feel so old You're at the center of everything I do Wherever I go, I'll walk the last mile with you

Hair has gotta surely be a joke? If Donald Trump's campaign hairdresser combed his hair like that he'd be saying in his New York accent "WTF are you doing, this is a mess, get it back to my usual style". Great tune though.
