With James, I felt uncomfortable with him. Not because of his sexuality, I don't really care a out that. But, rather with how he presented himself. He came across as someone who will do everything they can to get what they want, regardless of morality.

James really went and tried to pull people out of closets they were never in.

I wasn't a huge James Charles fan before the controversy (his content wasn't for me, nothing personal, I'm not into makeup). But every time he apologized, I would just shout at the screen: "JUST STOP! YOU'RE MAKING IT WORSE!"

@@keelanbarron928 It's setting yourself up for public execution by the mob because you're both showing that you have indeed done something worth being guilty over and not allowing the bad publicity to air out out over time by bringing the public attention back to it. Also, the more you apologize, the more insincere you start to sound. It's like you're apologizing because you expect to be forgiven out of pity, rather than because you've genuinely reflected and intend to show you've changed through actions.

James obsession with straight guys is just weird. Never saw why he was obsessed (if you want to say that) with straight guys cause ya know they're *straight*

Its not unheard of I've met plenty of gay people that wore sleeping with a straight person as a badge of honor. Like look I turned another one! Even though sexuality isn't a choice

I imagine in a lot of cases the rationalization is that they're "gay/bi and just don't know it until they meet me". As mentioned in the video, this mentality can also be seen in straight men that try to "flip" lesbians. Now, it's not like it's utterly impossible. Sure, sexuality ain't normally a choice, but plenty of people don't really experiment with relationships enough to 100% confirm their preferences and there are also some who are gay/lesbian primarily because of bad initial experience with the opposite sex and may "go back" to being bi after the associated trauma fades. I've known a guy who "chose to be gay" because of the abuse he had to bear in a female-dominated household, but years after moving out he started dating women. Similarly, I've heard of misandrist lesbians that ended up cheating on their wives with men after years in a stable relationship. Life can go all kinds of ways.

That was kind of a bad analogy it wasn't that he liked the challenge he thought that since he had enough fame and influence to get away with anything they wanted I never really cared enough for James, but his cancellation was deserved along with the flirting with a minor is so disgusting and sick

I think the only time it is alright to purposely attempt to “change” someone’s orientation is when you are 1. Serious in your feelings towards that person 2. You try to persuade and win them over through honest and unmalicious intent or means 3. Not force them and allow them to make the final decision and 4. Not make this something that you fall into a cycle with, sorta tying in with the first point, make it a tried and true relationship and not one where you would break up easily or leave them easily after convincing them to change a big part of their life for you.

There was always something about James Charles that unsettled me, I never really knew what it was. Seeing the controversy for the first time only felt like confirmation or an answer to those uneasy feelings

Way I see it, putting aside some of the more 'philic', shall we say, allegations, there's a clear line when it comes to the whole gay being attracted to straight thing or vice versa: There's a point where it's perfectly fine to be into someone who happens to be of the opposite preference and wanting to try and convince them to try the other side and potentially change their preference or add to that preference, but as a RESULT, not the goal. Let something happen naturally between you and the person you want to be with if it's meant to happen at all. Then you have the part where it becomes straight up sexual harassment and/or you being a creep, when you make unwanted sexual advances repeatedly and your goal is to just get people to your preference, not to actually be with them for any meaningful reason, therein treating them like objects aka objectification, no matter what the gender or preference in the matter is. When you forget The problem with James Charles was that he didn't realize/respect where and when he could and would cross that line, and his difficulty in recognizing that line and a disregard for others' preferences or freedom of choice as a person shone through in his responses, though not as bad as others. It felt less actively malicious and more generally naive/not understanding of others' personal right to be what they wanted to be and the right to not be harassed, though that still borders on, if not involves, something that I would argue could be considered flatout harassment. It's very very VERY bad and wrong, and I find it weird also that these days that's considered 'normal' or acceptable in any way unless it goes to ABSOLUTE extremes, only when an extremely sensitive line has been cross, when if, say, a guy acted that way towards a girl or acted like it was so wrong that a girl he was into was gay, he would be considered scum of the earth, when imo, this is an equally disturbing and horrible behavior and thought process no matter which two genders or sexualities are involved.
