James - always brilliant. I've been re-watching scenes from THE FAN tonight and had to include this. Spot on, with the perfect balance of adoration and gentle mocking. For those who don't know Mr. Beaman's work, he also does a magnificent impersonation of Marlene Dietrich (many clips available here on his page, see above), and he is a gifted and accomplished actor OUT of drag. STAR quality!

I have chills. I have seen Ms. B do his number hundreds of times in the film "The Fan." This is not only a channeling of the great Lauren Bacall - it's an homage overflowing with attention to detail and nuanced talents.

💖Again, I must say -Outstanding. I am (almost) speechless. I am a serious, longtime fan of the great Lauren Bacall. 💖 In her 1981 film "THE FAN,” this song is the 11-o’clock number, as performed on a Broadway opeening night by Ms. B’s character “Sally Ross.” James Beaman delivers a tribute of talent bordering on channeling in his interpretation of “Hearts Not Diamonds,” capturing Ms. B’s voice, energy, beauty, gestures, and spirit. It is rare to see a performance so very on point. I think I've commented similarly here before, but it's worth the repeat. For those who haven't seen THE FAN, it's a wild thriller and an iconic slice of the late 1970s, based on the award-wining book by Bob Randall. Plus Ms. Bacall shares the screen with the dazzlingly sexy, brilliant Michael Biehn. Thank you thank you James! I live in Manhattan and must see you perform someday!

I love your talent. This is simply amazing. The look is, of course, brilliant but I actually closed my eye's whilst listening...and...if I hadn't known it was you Mr Beaman....I would have sworn it was Lauren Bacall singing. Stunning.

I did this song in a cabaret, incidentally at Don't Tell Mama, about a year ago. Mine was more akin to the Cowardly Lion than your jaw droppingly amazing albeit gently ribbing version of Miss Bacall. This was fabulous. I'm so glad the KZread algorithm gets it right sometimes.

Spot on! I discovered Bacall's version of this shortly after the 2016 election when I really needed a laugh, and absolutely adored her performance. That great combination of schlock that is so heartfelt that it is genius. Great impression! Thanks for sharing.

I remember the first time I read about Forbidden Broadway one of the songs was about Ms. Bacall I'm One of the Girls that Sing Like a Boy.

Yes, interestingly, this was the reason Bacall never accepted any of my invitations to her to see my show--she was enraged by the Forbidden Broadway parody and thought I was doing a similar thing.

James doesn't have the voice. He comes across British. Bacall had a very husky voice. Bacall was one of a kind. RIP

I disagree, but glad you're a fan of Bacall. She was one of a kind, and a great dame.
