And all Jamaican! I LOVE YALL!!!! 😍😁💜💜

I told my friend’s dad recently that I loved him (my dad passed and he took on the role) and he called me back a couple days later to say he appreciated me telling him that because he needed to hear that that day. Show people that you love them and tell them as often as you can.

As a black father of Caribbean descent, I’d like to encourage the kids to do this more often. It’s hard out here and we often feel disrespected by the world. When our kids tell us randomly that they love us it makes us feel ten feet taller. Don’t wait for Fathers Day. Do it now.😊

It’s crazy in our culture love is unspoken and that parents think something serious happen when their children say I love you. I wish it was different in our culture but one thing we know Jamaican parents guh hard fi dem pikney. This made me tear up.

This is same for Trinidad and Tobago. Caribbean parents are truly unique due to our experiences. I tell my daughter I love her all the time and I feel more comfortable telling friends love you than my own parents and siblings cuz it was never normalized in my home.

There’s been occasions where I say “I love you” to my mum and she replies back with “Thank you” 😂😂 cause I wasn’t as close with my dad compared to my mum, I found it awkward to say “I love you” to my dad, I said it a couple of times. But now that he has passed away I wish I had vocalised that more often. Don’t let the awakwardness, or anything get in the way. Life is too short, and tomorrow is not promised.

Wow! Jamaican parents love their children differently. You know they love you by the sacrifices they make. They show love by hustling each day to ensure their children show up to school, looking well, and having all their books. Younger people are changing the culture though. That's a good thing. It's important for children to hear those words and reciprocate the sentiments. I try my best to tell my son multiple times each day. It's also heartwarming when he says it to me.

0:56 EXACTLY what my father would say! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Jamaican parents are sooooo uncomfortable with the words, I love you. Smhh Most of friends have the same experience. Our grandparents never told our parents that they love them.

We need to normalize this as Jamaicans. Usually it's known that we love each other but saying it often makes the other think something is wrong

Let mi tell u something, Jamaicans show love they don’t say it unless it’s absolutely necessary but if u notice everyone of the parents were ready to do something for their kids hence for Jamaicans love you is a verb ❤😂

Growing up in Jamaica in my household we never used the words I love you or hug each other. However we express it in different ways for example my older sister if you mess with her she would cussed you out and often times people would try to fight her because of the hurtful things she would say to them but I have always got her back because I love her and wouldn’t allow anyone to hurt her even when I’m mad at her.😊

I’m Jamaican and it would never be this weird or awkward to tell any of my parents I love them. I grew up in a loving home so I suppose that explains it. We tell each other we love them. Even my siblings and I tell each other we love them. One of my brother tells me he loves me every time we talk. It needs to be practiced more. Parents asking what’s wrong, curious. It’s clearly not said or practiced enough.

I grew up never hearing ' I love you' from my Mama.....i knew she did by the way she treated me, i felt it... but she didn't utter the words until i was a grown woman and even then, she only said it when i encouraged her to... she found it so awkward because she was never told by her parents. Now i have children and from the day they were born I've told them i love them right up until now, theyre in their 30s. Every single time we speak or see each other we utter those priceless words. Its standard and normal for us...i have broken that cold tradition. Love conquers Everything.
