JAM "Magic Music" jingles 40th anniversary
Ойын-сауық
For JAM fans: Every jingle has a story, and here's a look back at one of our earliest custom packages on its 40th anniversary. "Magic Music" was first heard on WMGK Philadelphia when the station began in September 1975. It, along with its follow-up packages, remained the signature sound of the Magic format for nearly two decades.

I loved the jingle on brazilian Jovem Pan radio. Greetings from Brazil to JAM.
JAM is the absolute best -- as is Jonathan Wolfert!!! Great working with y'all back in the 80's in Air Force Recruiting National Broadcast Operations!
I enjoy reading the backstory to production music like this. I noticed that the introduction at 4:04 is very suggestive of the opening to America's 1972 "Ventura Highway." 🙂
Absolutely love these. The BBC Radio 2 and Radio Jovem Pan cuts are off the scale beautiful 😍
Love the true stereo separation!
radio 1 and radio 2 BBC had jam jingles and they are sorely missed 👌 stunning sounds

If you listen to Sounds of the Seventies with Johnnie Walker, he still uses that exact jingle occasionally.
Thank you so much JAM!!! My youth as a DJ wouldn't be complete without your jingles!!!
I hear the carpenters all over these jingles with the iconic vocal layering that they created. I think that’s what made Jam jingles a hit. Your secret sauce ;)
JAM Creative Productions' jingles have inspired the whole radio stations from all across America!!!

Across the World, they do Jingles for Jovem Pan 2 100.9 FM Radio Station in São Paulo, Brazil too.
I was privileged to work with the late, great Julian Breen at WMGK in Philadelphia for many years. These jingles bring back so many memories of both the station and the man. Another one who's no longer with us is Dave Klahr, the local program director when Magic signed on.
Moved to Phila. to go to college in 1977 and did spend some time listening to WMGK. WMGK did sound unique.
A beautifully orchestrated package. One of those early gems that put JAM on the map and established a logo melody for many stations to come.
Extraordinary. Wonderful. Beautiful. That's all.
I hope the Jam Productions continue to play the Magic Music jingles for all of the radio stations for another 40 years.
I think this was one of the best packages Jam did. Clean and bright, yet fits right in with the format. I've always wanted to have a station that played music that would fit these jingles! haha!!
6:12 Oooh this is so jammolicious!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
Jam jingles are the hit!!!
We got a Magic station here in 1984 (WMGP-FM Parkersburg, WV). It stayed Magic until 1990. These would've been great jingles for them. They actually had no jingles or sounders if I recall until the station's late years.

I grew up on Jam Jingles featured on CBS FM NY. I'd love to work for Jam.

This package was re-sung for BBC Radio 2 -- you hear some other re-sings at the end of this demo.
I have to admit that as an English student, I learnt this beautiful language listening jingles specially the ABC and numbers 👍!
My country also has jingle the Jam, Rádio Jovem Pan 2 FM
Felicidades por ese 40 aniversario
Happy 40 Magical Birthday WMGK!
Some of those jingles would work just as good on Classic Country stations.
I loved Jovem Pan Brazil
Jon you've got an amazing voice for voice over.
Congratulations for the 40th anniversary :) Very interesting video thanks you!

Never knew the vocals had an LA connection (no pun intended for a future Alfa package). Great video
What a beautiful presentation Jon and happy 40th Anniversary of another true classic!
カッコイイ!
I found this very difficult to listen to. Julian Breen was taken from us far too young. A great fellow, who did so much to shape radio, as this excellent documentary shows, not just in the US, but on BBC Radio 2 in the UK as well. Good that it is keeping Julian's reputation alive. But it is still agonising that he has gone.
If I want a magic jingle from JAM, I want WMJX, Magic 106.7, in Boston.
Absolutely wonderful thanks for posting I loved it do some more
I was a 21 year old DJ in 1981...and I paid (out of my own pocket) for my own jingle while my station was getting new JAM jingles recorded. It was on it's own reel and I even think I paid JAM directly for it.... but in one of my many moves over the years, I became separated from that tape. Wonder if there's any way to get a copy of it? My daughters and young grandson would love to hear it if I could get a copy. The many (what appeared to be) 'master tapes' that appeared in the video gave me hope that it might still be hanging around at the JAM studios somewhere. No idea of how to inquire about it. JAM Jingles always rocked for sure!

I Want to See the History of your "It's Your Country" Jingle Package
Wow KMGK Des Moines. Magic-93 now long since gone.
Lurve Jam's stuff
What a nice video, and a great presentation! I've always been fascinated with these jingles, and I've followed along on KZread for many years. I like how you showed the score at parts; I caught myself picking out the harmonies on the staff as they were sung! Is that Paul Leim on drums? Anyway, beautiful stuff, thanks very much.
_Before they went Magic:_ • WMGQ was WCTC's FM equivalent... • KMGK was KIOA's FM equivalent (albeit KYNA for a short time)... • WWYZ was WATR's FM equivalent... • WIOF was WWCO's FM equivalent... • WMJC was WHFI and WHNE... • And, of course, WMGK was WPEN's FM equivalent (and WCAU's as well, long before they swapped each other's frequency out in 1947). The rest of the stations heard here still stayed the same.
Pois é, aqui estou e nem sei como cheguei. 5:40 O Brasil está ligado na Jovem Pan!!!

@JAMcreative did you guys ever worked with Stereorey in Mexico ?
2:38 Where can I download the 5 intended demos?
Hey 107 FM Thunder Radio (Radyo Kidlat)
05:38 KAKE Is the ABC affiliate television station and flag ship station four kakeland Based in Wichita Kansas… It’s sister stations serve a large majority of the state… Is it possible for there to be a television station and a radio station with the same call letters? I didn’t think so but if there are that is interesting otherwise are some of these call letters just made up for demonstration purposes? I really love all these sorts of how it’s done videos and appreciate the time and effort put into this one it’s a very good Job done

Thank you for your nice comments. Yes, television and radio stations can have the same call letters. In the Olde Days the stations would have had to be owned by the same entity and be located in the same market. For example, at one time New York City had WABC (AM), WABC-FM and WABC-TV, which were all owned by ABC. But now the rules are less strict and it's possible to have an AM, and FM, and a TV in different cities with the same call letters (but only one of each type of station... ie, there can't be more than one KAKE-TV). All of the call letters you hear in our Magic montage are real, and all of the stations presented did actually use the Magic Music package at some point. Back in the day, Philadelphia had WFIL TV-6, 102.1 FM and 560 AM. Also WCAU TV-10, 98.1 FM and 1210 AM, the latter 3 owned by CBS.
4:23 Hey, that's my station! I'm wondering, how many of the WMGK packages did WMGQ air, and for how long? I know they used your Digital Mix (WRQX) package from the mid-90s to early 2000s.

Why do so many American radio station names begin with 'W' ?
@JAM-PAMS
Жыл бұрын
By international convention, groups of call letters are assigned to each country. The U.S. has W's, K's, N's and A's. So they decided to use the W's for stations east of the Mississippi River, and K's for those west of the river. Canadian station call letters begin with C or V. Mexican stations begin with X. You can find a list of all the assignments online if you Google it.
