Jam #2 - The Band - The Last Waltz
Winterland Ballroom, San Francisco, CA
1976-11-25
The Last Waltz (2002)
¡IMPORTANT!
If anyone thinks they have footage (audience or professional) or an audience recording that no one else has (or that I haven't published) and wants to make it public, they can contact me.
¡IMPORTANT!
In the second jam they play, from The Band, only Garth Hudson and Levon Helm (Richard Manuel and Robbie Robertson left after the first jam and Rick Danko did not play at any) and the guests who played were Neil Young, Ronnie Wood, Eric Clapton, Dr. John, Paul Butterfield and Ringo Starr as well as Stephen Stills and Carl Radle who played guitar and bass respectively. Also, at the end almost, there is someone at the organ with Dr. John who I do not know who he is
After this The Band returned to the stage to finish the concert with Don't Do It
What you see recorded was an extra from the 2002 DVD reissue of The Last Waltz.
35mm camera recordings:
0:00 / 10:08
thanks to Pavel Navarra for uploading what I had not been able to find on youtube
here is the link to his video if you want to see only the professional footage and support his channel • THE BAND jam The Last...

close to almost 50 years, and we have some new footage,,,,,AMAZING,,,!
So many of my favorite musicians on stage at one time playing, BLISS☮️💜🙃💋
I love this outtake jus because of the great Carle radle having fun on bass being part of this historic moment.
Mr Garth Hudson on the organ .....peerless !

The Master himself.
Garth Hudson doesn't get much credit and is the least known member of The Band but he is the one behind most of the music composition. Amazing musician!!
25 layers of music. try to think about what each person is playing, it's pretty crazy how deep this jam is.
There was SO MUCH talent on that stage, the cameras almost had a meltdown @10:12
At 8:15 Robbie and his killer smile, just makes me melt. I read his book he was nervous and exhausted even before the concert started, but he pulled it off, and could still smile that late at night.
Simply incredible.
Love my idol, Ringo Starr, working the groove, nice and laid-back
Thank you for the work and posting this for all to enjoy!
I love OUTTAKES from movies clips that didn't Make the final cut of film especially from the LAST WALTZ the greatest concert movie EVER.
Amazing
This is so fantastic! Thank you for sharing & putting this together so well & for your description notes! 🙌
Thanks for posting a big missing piece of my all-time favorite album, the one I would take on a deserted island.
Thanks for sharing this... Just great...
Some good Carl Radle footage.

Yes. But nobody else, right? I’m sure backstage everyone else read bible scripture, drank milk and had consensual relations with their wives.

Levon- if you knew what was around the corner you'd put that cigarette down. I still love ya.
Added for miro
It's actually some of the best stuff I've heard, both of them on the drums, Radle, Ronnie Woods slippery sliding with Butterfield holding fort, Neil jumpin about and then when Stills comes on he just takes charge with some of my favourite playing.. 👌
Ronnie be goode

I wondered the same thing. He (or she?) is wearing a light colored shirt, sitting just behind Dr. John, who's taken residence on Garth's organ. Garth is on the grand piano, but it can't be Richard. The person's hair is totally wrong to be Richard. As somebody else said, most he and Ricky were enjoying themselves backstage w/ the likes of Van and Clapton. Wonder what folks like Ringo, Ronnie Wood, Stills or Neil remember of that part of the night. Sadly most are gone; you'd have to guess folks like Muddy, Pinetop and Bob Margolin might not have hung around. Or maybe the "bigtime" Hawk still has stories from then. Thanks for putting this together.

@@JohnHaslam-nh8tn In the beginning you can very clearly see Manuel standing next to Dr John beginning to play piano. If he was partying with Danko he was late to the party.
Holy shit! Of course this didn't make the movie b/c Scorsese was charged with emphasizing RR. Look at Neil Young crushing it. Go boys. DMM PS: Ronnie Wood always said how tilted the movie was against the other Band members. This jam shows that.

It wasn't only Ronnie Wood. All the other members of The Band felt the same way and talked about in books and interviews especially Helm. Did you notice in the beginning Robertson acting like grandmaster of the event. A really talented guy but an egotistical schmuck (he is part Jewish)

Your last comment is anti semitic. Robbie was the one who set it up, it was his idea. Richard Manuel was not in good shape, Levon didn't like to be photograped. Give Robbie a break he was a genius.@@harlanginsberg7269
