I'm just a big fan of The Band
The channel came about because there was a time when I was very interested in The Band bootlegs, and it bothered me that they weren't as accessible, so I decided to publish them so that any fan of The Band looking for those bootlegs would find them easier

Thank god Laszlo Kovacs removed his headset to ignore Scorsese's incessant prattle, otherwise his camera wouldn't have captured this for the film.

wow, Ronnie's slide sounds awesome. What a great way to entertain the crown and give The Band a breather before their encore. And that signature Niel Young stomp is a classic. Wish I'd seen him in concert. (I may have in Jacksonville AL in the 1970s with the Stills Young Band, but I don't have a visual memory of that show)

I am old enough to remember The Last Waltz. I also saw Ronnie Hawkins live in Toronto in 1980 with Alfie Zappacosta. The Band got their name because they were Ronnie Hawkins and the Band.

When expressing the longings all of us feel most deeply during our vulnerable youth, when we cannot understand why our feelings are not reciprocated, when we discover our hearts are broken and there is no one to tell, Ontario boy Rick Danko is chosen by The Band to convey their most deeply felt lyrics. He has company. Watch Neil Young during his Last Waltz performance, also from Ontario and the same age as Rick. Their eyes meet as Neil sings “Helpless.” People who are aware of Neil Young’s towering ego were caught off guard when their hero encountered a kindred spirit. That spirit has flown but we still see him in the Northern Lights.

My love for this song isn’t because it romanticizes Southern sins. But it reminds me that none of us can ever go home again. When the moment passes, it’s over forever. This song urges me to love earnestly, to live honestly, and to forgive completely.

@@rainers.2080 Robbie wrote the song and Levon made a couple of adjustments since he was the only American in the group.
