    He has so much upside, the only big knock I've seen is his consistent issue short arming throws beyond 15 yards, especially when the target is going deep, from both the limited college play and his HS tape. He has a fluid motion, throws with touch when necessary, makes reads, throws his receivers into stride, and doesn't run at the first sign of pressure. He could definitely benefit from first team reps for a summer and needs to iron out the downfield issue and a little bit of happy feet, but I see an all-SEC caliber QB, no doubt. The disasters from the A&M game from last season will be seen as an insane fluke by the time he leaves college.

    Absolutely wrong. He is not a QB and he is NOTHING like Hurts was at this stage of the game. If Milroe starts Alabama will have one of the worst seasons since Saban has been coach. Even Vegas odds tell that story -- You can dream all you want to, it's not realistic and his season last year SHOULD tell you all you need to know. This year it looks like we'll be running more and in that sense he's a fit .. but if he has to throw.. we're in trouble. And I don't think he will be starting (as a passer) this year. His whole year last year, was a insane fluke by those standards. He almost lost the game in Arkansas and ALMOST lost the game in College Station. He's not ready and he should go back to being a Running back... sheesh...

  • @resolutrial_

    @resolutrial_

    @@Deep.Purple he had one week of starting reps in practice before facing one of the best defenses in the country. Threw three touchdowns in that game, but still hard to make a true judgment out of that. Anyway, I care nothing about what some bookmaker in Vegas says, it's always gonna come down to Saban's assessment. Jalen Hurts was hardly a competent passer at the same time of his career, it's not like Milroe was throwing every fifth pass straight into the dirt like Hurts was. He needs time to develop, I see no reason to doubt that he could improve enough by September. Also, he was never a running back and was a highly rated QB coming from high school. But overall, I'm not worried. If Saban says he's not the guy, then he's not.

    We as Bama fans have been so spoiled the last few plus years because before Tua when Bama got to 3rd down and 4+ you held your breath every time because it was like trying to pull teeth to get a first down off of a pass play more times than not. Fast forward when Tua became the guy, then with Mac, and then with Bryce it was like oh...it's just 3rd and 9 we'll convert this bad boy as easy as making an online purchase. Now it maybe kind of like it was before Tua on 3rd and long but with that said I still think Milroe is THE GUY and I believe in him PERIOD

Mero played in the majority of last station games and started Texas A&M game and played the whole one through. I hope he grows big time in the passing game as it’ll be damn near impossible to stop our RBs, WRs, 5 star loaded o-line, and a QB that can run like that and throw. He’s got a ways to progress in the passing game but if taking an Anthony Richardson type player that still needs a lot of development in the passing game means losing to Vandy/Kentucky and all those terrible teams Richardson lost to then I’ll take something else. If he can’t throw an accurate deep all Simpson will without a doubt start and we’ll be one of, if not the top team still. Simpson was a 5 star dual threat QB for a reason. Extremely accurate.

    Yeah he is waaaaay toooooo damn talented, I couldn't agree more. He's GOT TO BE THE GUY until proven otherwise. If it were me I would kind of call the offense like Kiffin did with hurts in 2016 and how Daboll did with hurts in 2017. Make some designed runs, get your playmakers out in space, get the ball out fast, run that ball, commit to the run, and dial some big plays up when you know the time for the play is right and maybe dial a few more deep to keep the safeties on back far from the box. That was a few of the ingredients that got Bama in the national championship two years in a row with an extremely athletic, run dominant quarterback the last time so I think that would be kind of the same philosophy they should want to utilize this time around. + Jalen Milroe i believe could be hurts 2.0 from an athletic standpoint. Funny how hurts can read through his progressions like he's freakin drew brees now, if he would have been able to do that at Bama he probably would've never lost his job but I'm glad things worked out the way it did because watching Tua was very special.

    @@rotcoke652 And that's because we saw how shitty Mac Jones was when he had to play against Tennessee and MSU in 2019 followed by throwing 2 pick6 against Auburn. And with an off-season, he was able to hold off BY and become a Heisman finalist. Yet you don't think Jalen could do the same? I also feel like his criticism ignores the fact that BoB's playcalling was routinely questionable and Bryce being the best QB in the nation was the ultimate bandaid to a weak run game, trash WR route tree, and WRs who couldn't get separation.

    Give Me A Break! Against New Mexico State, the accuracy still isn't very good. It'll only be worse against SEC teams. He's not your Pro Style QB Intelligence wise. Reading defenses and processing is what makes a good QB. Plus, He's not very accurate. He might do OK with this running QB style in college and even the NFL for a short time. However, when it comes to being a Passing QB, who has to read defenses, process things, and be accurate, he'll fail.

    I'm pulling for a National Championship, not any one player on this team. We will not win a championship without a QB that can force a defense to respect his passing ability beyond 15 yards. Jalen Hurts is a prime example. If Milroe hasn't improved in the passing game we will be down at the half against Texas and he will be benched. Maybe Lonergan can come in and bale us out if that happens like Tua did.
