San Antonio Spurs defeats New York Knicks in OT, 130-126. For San Antonio, Victor Wembanyama led the way with a career-high 40 points, 20 rebounds, and 7 assists. Jalen Brunson finished with a new career high 61 points (5 3PM), 4 rebounds, and 6 assists while aided by Donte DiVincenzo setting a new franchise record for 3PM (242) in a season and recording 20 points (6 3PM) and 6 rebounds for New York in the losing effort. San Antonio improves to 18-56, while New York moves to 44-29 with the loss.
Victor Wembanyama becomes the first player in Spurs franchise history to record 40+ points, 20+ rebounds, and 5+ assists in a game
Victor Wembanyama is the fifth rookie overall to record 40+ PTS, 20+ REB, and 5+ AST and the first rookie to do so in over 50 years, joining:
John Drew and Wilt Chamberlain - 2x
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Walt Bellamy - 1x
Most previous instance:
John Drew - 40 PTS, 25 REB, 7 AST on 12.28.74, ATL v LA.
Wembanyama is the first rookie since Shaquille O'Neal (46 PTS, 21 REB on 02.16.93, ORL v DET) with a 40-PT, 20-REB game.
Jalen Brunson becomes the 3rd player in Knicks franchise history to record 60+ points in a game, joining:
Carmelo Anthony - 62 points NY vs CHA 1/24/2014
Bernard King - 60 points NY vs NJ 12/25/1984
DiVincenzo set a new single season record in his 71st game of the season, the fifth-fewest games for a player to achieve this feat in their first year with a new team since the 1999-2000 season.

Does ESPN on-air analyst Doris Burke owe Jalen Brunson, an apology? She and others at ESPN repeatedly disrespected Jalen by calling him, "Undersized," at six foot two inches, tall. But so is Stephen Curry. Personally, I believe that comment insulted former NBA greats like Allen, Mugsey and Spud, among others. It also humiliated young up and coming basketball hopefuls, in the pipeline. Jalen is the leading NBA 2024 MVP candidate. And if Doris Burke can't see and acknowledge that, she needs to consult with NBA great player, coach and on-air sports Analyst Mark Jackson who ESPN fired, along with Coach and 17 year on-air partner, Jeff Van Gundy.

That was a big miss from Brunson with 2:24 to go if he hit that Knicks go up 5 and I think they win this game. McBride had an open look to win it and also missed it. I think Brunson waited a little to long to make his move maybe they could have gotten a closer shot or got Donte a shot because McBride was off last night 3-9 vs Donte who was 7-13 fg and 6-12 from three.

I agree but that could be said about lots of NBA players. Just look at Bridges in Brooklyn. That guy was a role player inPHX and became one of the top scoring options at the Nets. The league has so much talent but some players have to be role players in order to win it all. I was hoping that Brunson would have been that guy. I can see why he wanted to be the #1 option though @@CKNICKERBOCKERS
