Jake Workman - 3 Versions of “LITTLE CABIN HOME ON THE HILL”

Discussing improv with my students is one of the common topics that comes up in my lessons daily. Here are three improvised versions of “Little Cabin Home on the Hill” that showcase varied levels of simplicity/complexity. I’d take any of these approaches in a jam or band situation depending on what feels most right in context.
A TAB transcription bundle for all 3 is available at www.jakeworkman.com

The middle one was my favorite style. That's what I need to get so much better at!

Rhett Shull just pointed all of us to your playing..... INSANITY!!! I think you can't possibly really be playing the guitar like this.... is this some kind of hollywood special effects video or something? I truly thought that maybe the videos he showed us of you were sped up, but then I watched and rewatched, and it is the real deal. Your consistency is like the drummer Dave Weckl, so consistent that people challenge that it can really be a human playin!!! You cannot possibly have a gift like this without positing that there is a gift giver! God smiled on you my friend!!!

@@SibeDad I have a Boucher Bluegrass goose. Nice, but my Martin D28 Authentic still beats it tone-wise. So far anyway.

@@alan4sure I also am fortunate to have two Martins in my collection, a 1970 D12-35 and a 2015 CS HD-35, both are incredible instruments, as are my SG-21G and HG-66i Bouchers. Happy New Year, keep pickin' and grinin'🎉

Just keep listening and practicing. Forget about tabs, they're a useless crutch. Lol
