The first episode is a competition between him and Amy to see who has the most cases solved in the precinct and Jake's winning

One of the things I love about Jake is how he’s not a stereotype. He’s not dumb like many goofy comic relief characters, he’s insanely smart and talented and the show takes him seriously despite his personality.

Right? Addiction is absolutely a disease, which is not only genetically linked but is also indicative of self-medicating to cope with other underlying issues, such as depression and stress (which is also a disease which, when left untreated, can have very serious physical effects). Treating addiction as a disease rather than a moral failing helps, but it can't be beaten unless you deal with the underlying issues as well -- which is therapy is also an absolute must.

While both Samburg and Braugher were great this episode, I think Sterling K. Brown was kind of underrated. He was smoother than butter throughout the entire episode and tried to be the smartest guy in the room. I think if they got somebody else, I don't think the episode would've worked as well as it did.

@@moone_milena Usually an episode where the main crew of a show is "bottled up" in a certain area/room. This allows for lower budget, because you don't need to hirr any background characters or even in the episode of this video's case also no need for the other main-crew characters. The problem is that you need to be creative to make a bottle episode watchable and enjoyable. A whole episode where the same characters are constantly in scene in the same room may get boring quickly. The show "Community" had an amazing bottle episode too. It was about a missing pen and it was written brilliantly.

This, The Box, is one of the standout episodes of Season five. It's quite clearly the "Bottle Episode" intended to minimise budget but it's such a fantastic character study and shows just what the writers are capable of with minimal resources. Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher absolutely slay in this performance

It seems almost like the "Yep.. Kevin" part was improved and they kept it. Holt's reaction really seems genuine. If not, the writers are brilliant (the the surprise of no one)

It's such perfect line. It's not sitcom joke to the audience, it's a joke between friends; especially thanks to it's personal nature. It both works great to break the tension for us after watching an intense episode, them for Actually going through it, and establishing them as equals; completing their arc for the episode. You could teach a whole college lesson on this one line.

"It wasnt luck" I love how he said that.

You know, the creators could easily make him a icompetent detective...damm but fuck that, they make him a badass geniuss!!!!

network didn't own the production company so they weren't making much money from it. new network (NBC) does so it's a better deal for them financially. the real question is why NBC passed on it in the first place 5 years ago

the holt and peralta friendship is one of the most pure things in the show.

The acting on all parts in this scene is superb. Sterling K. Brown especially is chilling as this character. 99!

You cut one of my favorite parts in this episode. When Jake was looking satisfied and said he loves his job. I admired Jake for that so much. He has passion for his job which is one of the things that made him the best at it. That's really admirable. I wish they'd renew this show. I'm praying.

I like that when Jake calls him lucky the first time he has a physical reaction by rubbing his eye showing that he's already annoyed

I've recently started watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine and I have to say, Jake really reminds me of Shawn Spencer from "Psych". they are both brilliant detectives who act like children.

I adore Sterling K Brown. This is probably my favorite episode because it's played so straight with no shenanigans, but still holds true to Jake's charms.

This episode was great, the only thing I missed was when he revealed the weapon Holt should've said somenthing in the lines of: we couldn't handle the tooth

This is my favorite Jake Peralta moment ever. It’s the perfect amount of comedy and drama. It’s also one of Andy’s best acting scenes in the whole show.

This is why this show shouldn’t be cancelled

I remember when I first watched this I had to rewatch this scene like 5 times bc it all happened so fast and I miss every word jake said HAHAHAH the acting is just 👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿

I love how Jake's genius & skill isn't just something we're just supposed to take at face value and that it's something he repeatedly proves & demonstrates in the show. Like, he's not just someone that gets lucky, but someone that actually earns his wins

All though I love the silly over the top epeisodes I wish they did more of these more charecture building types of epeisodes. because this one was REALLY good

This is my favorite episode of B99. Bottle episodes in general I'm typically a fan of, but this one has so much nuance to the performance that I keep coming back to it. Incredible chemistry between all of the characters.

One of my favorite episodes, and an example of how Jake despite basically a child, is still a genius child

I honestly believe no one would’ve broken phillip even they used jake’s idea. Reason why jake got phillip to confess was because the way he delivered his monologue, jake was so confident and believed in what he was saying which was killing phillip inside because phillip knew the truth
