I feel like the art style can't be preserved well in a high resolution. Some compromises will have to be made. Thankfully, if they switched to a slightly more realistic approach, it wouldn't look too off

@@venar4248 The early rachet and clank games were actually quite mature and had a lot of political themes, political satire, and humor that kids wouldn't get. All the games were rated T after all so they were intended for an audience ages 13 and up. That is until the Future Trilogy which dumbed everything down and after that the series went to crap. Also the OG series wasn't a trilogy, it was a quadrillogy. Everyone always forgets Deadlocked (Rachet and Clank 4) which is part of the OG series. A Rift Apart sadly kept the silly style of the future games instead of going back to the sort of tone seen in the first 4 games, but at least the gameplay is actually good again unlike All 4 One, Quest for Booty, and the crappy movie tie-in reboot game.

Honestly, if it has to come back, I can only really hope that it's not Naughty Dog doing it. Not only are basically none of the original staff still at the company, but I just feel like Naughty Dog will just try to make it like their more modern games, rather than having it be more similar to the originals. I mean, I really don't want to see them in a "realistic" graphical style with loads of unskippable walking segments and such. It wouldn't really fit in.

I can only really see insomniac being able to tackle the project to a higher fidelity while still keeping true to the original. The fact they’re so versatile and clearly have love for so many playstation IP’s and not just their own speaks Volumes in and of itself. I mean look at Rift Apart

@@omarawilson2853 I like Rift Apart but it still falls in comparison to the OG and Future Trilogy. Idk what it is, but it feels like its missing something. Maybe it was the story/writing or the very repetitive combat segments especially with no enemy variety

My cousin showed me Jack and Daxter for the first time when we were kids. He passed away when he was 14 he never got to play Jak 2 and Jak 3 this series reminds me of her every time

I love precursor legacy, I played it from the age of 3 on ps2 and recently 100 percent completeted it on ps4 I am not 15 and still love this series as I have played every game relesed in the franchise including lost fronter which I also played at a young age.

The Mandalorian always felt like a Jak 2-3 atmosphere. So a series with that same attitude would be great.

Book of Boba Fett was so much Jak 3 to me, if this potential series gets to be similar to that or The Mandalorian, I'll be perfectly fine with it.

You know what style I think would fit Jak & Daxter really well? The "western studio anime" art-style that Avatar started and is really popular on Netflix shows. Imagine the guys behind Voltron, or Arcane, or hell even The Dragon Prince. I think that could be rad as hell! Though, I don't have much faith in the director that cast "hollywood's favorite twink" in the role of buff Indiana Jones.

After recently completing Jak 3 for the umpteenth time, my love for the series grows. I'd love to see Jak and Daxter make a comeback, but I'd also want whoever makes it to stay true to the essence of the original trilogy. We don't need or want another failure like Lost Frontier. That being said, since I'm in a Jak funk, I drew some character concept art for a Jak 4 a few months ago, although I'm thinking of going in and either redoing, or modifying the current designs.

Not in a million years do I expect to see Naughty Dog having what it takes to make a decent Jak return. They've changed for the worse.

A PG-13 movie revolving around Jak 2 would be fantastic because there is so much unsaid and unseen in the actual story. For starters, what exactly did Jak experience in his 2 years tortured and imprisoned? Also, Keira and Samos never see Jak transform into Dark Jak. How horrified they’d be to find their friend after 2 years of searching, and see him change into a ferocious monster. Perhaps there may be some hope after all. PLEASE give Dark Jak some much needed love 💜

Something I’m not sure if many have considered is that, if they do make a live-action movie and it does well, if they bring the franchise back it could be COMPLETELY different tone and gameplay wise. It wouldn’t surprise me if they made a Jak 4 after a hypothetical movie, that a subsequent game revival would more akin to The Last of Us or Uncharted in terms of gameplay and even darker story. And I personally don’t think that would suit this series. So I’m conflicted. Thanks for the vid Jared! BRING BACK SLY COOPER TOO

The hype is f'ing real. Personally I would like a game something like "Jak and Daxter the Precursor Legend" that serves both as a prequel and a sequel, with the titular duo traveling into the far past, just after the fall of the Precursors. A game mechanic where using some kind of Precursor artifact, Jak can collect different types of Eco and store them for later rather than having to use it immediately. I'd also like to ditch the guns but essentially keep the gun mechanics through the use of Yellow Eco. There's so much they can do with this series still. I'm excited for ANYTHING they decide to do.

Honestly this has to be my favorite game series growing up. I would love to see anything for it. Just don’t be surprised if it ends up like Tak and the power of juju cartoon lol

I love all 3 Jak games so much! If a Jak 4 game came out tomorrow, I would buy a PS5 just for that game. If 1000 euro were the price for the game, I'd buy in a second! All 3 Jak games have their pros and cons, so if we'd ever get a Jak 4, hopefully they take all the good stuff from all of the games: 1. Pretty and vibrant colors and landscapes from Jak 1. 2. Jak's personality from Jak 2 and Jak 3. 3. LOTS of ingame cutscenes/cinematic in 2022 graphics. 4. Game length x2 compared to the previous games. 5. Eco-/ and gunsystem from Jak 3 (maybe mixed with the extra Jak 1 ecos). 6. Get rid of the GTA system from Jak 2 and and the desert racing/traveling from Jak 3, or atleast make it so that it is only a tiny part of the game: 80% platformer zones with jump puzzles, eco, gunfights, jetboard etc. 15% racing 5% sandbox (travel) like the GTA system in Jak 2 PLEASE GIVE US JUST THAT, NAUGHTY DOG! /beg (nutsack crossed). :D

I find it interesting that we seem to have opposite opinions on how we like the franchise and how we think this should go down. I personally prefer both 2 and 3 (still adore TPL) and think that Jak 1 is probably the one to get adapted because a lot more people outside the fandom prefer it to 2 and 3.

There are 3 big changes that need I believe will help improve 2 and 3. First being improve the gunplay. Let use have more control in how we aim. Second improve the ammo economy, respawning in a challenging encounter with the same amount of ammo you had when you died is terrible. Thirdly, if they could make a way to better meld using Jak’s martial arts and his guns together. The burst fire with the blaster, and the bullet tornado with the reflector were so cool, let’s see if they can try to add more combos like that.

These days while i drone at work i can hear the music from Jak 2 in the city... non stop. First time i played that game i couldnt get past the tank part and spend literal days just flying around the section of the city available.

Please don’t forget sly cooper too! That series is just as amazing I think!

The Haven city theme is still stuck in my head also the guard prosuite theme and many more from Jak 2 lol Jak 2 had the best soundtrack definitely

I think an animated Precursor Legacy (CG’d or hand drawn) movie would be incredibly charming with the dynamic between Jak and Daxter as well as Daxter’s interactions with everyone else in the game(s)

Never clicked on a video so fast before. This game was one of my top 3 biggest games I enjoyed as a kid (others being God of War and Metal Gear Solid) so I hope they finally bring it back with all the characters and OG VAs 😭😭😭

Granola from DBS manga reminds so much of Jak. Check the character out they have nearly the same job and personality, Jak is my favorite character of all time and his swagger never goes out of style.

Too late I feel... the mid 2010s would've been a good relaunch period for this franchise. It didn't happen then and dim in most gamers heads now, even fans, dunno why they think its going to work now.

Contemplating the words you said about jak coming to a movie or a tv show, i normally shun any game that gets a film adaptation but honestly if done right, I would adore a CG jak series highlighting games 2 and 3. They could give flashbacks of the first game throughout so we (or people new to the series) learn essential backstory, tweak things that dont line up, and then possibly show us what happens after jak defeats Errol which could turn into the next jak game. It has a lot of potential, but only if they do it right. Like for League of legends, they took a moba and made one hell of a fantastic show from it, which i adore and have been playing the game for years.

Since NaughtyDog is focusing on realistic modern games away from the cartoon style. The only two companies I can see and hope Sony puts in charge for Jak and Daxter is Activision, and Insomniac. Activision with their experience with Remakes of dormant franchise, (not to mention they can call it the Precursor Trilogy). But with Insomniac they bounced back and put more eyes on Ratchet and Clank, and in Rift apart there is a Jak/Sly Easter egg with redesigns of them. I feel like Insomniac could make a Remake/Reboot, and it'll be amazing.

I truly loved Jak & Daxter . It was the only game I'd play when I was younger and could find everything across all the games. The stories were well tailored (especially in the later installments which made it gritty and dark). Honestly I hope Jak will be on the comeback too as the fans have been waiting for a long long time! Do you think it'll be a 4th entry? Or a remake? I think a Jak & Daxter movie would be great as long as Dan Ayre is on the project but also only if the original voice actors for Jak 2 were playing their roles and it remains CG, in my opinion. Jak 2 especially(if they decide to combine Jak I and Jak II) is a difficult tone and story to get right because it's SO. GOOD. and did such a good job with its tone shift. I honestly am pretty worried about whoever the director is and in their ability to create a natural tone shift from The Precursor Legacy to Jak II. Also they better not screw up the lore-building!

Video game movies are infamous for a reason, and the Ratchet and Clank movie cemented that. I have little faith this will turn out well.

Seeing as the Jak games were best at borrowing several ideas at once from other game series, I could definitely see them bring back the same platforming but with stuff from Breath of the Wild or Red Dead. A Jak game where we could customize vehicles/mounts would be amazing

What would be the best, is to bring Jak and Daxter to PC, at best, to Steam. This would really draw the attention back to it, and from there on foreward, they could work on another Jak game, with the attention back in the box for the game through steam. They would also add the possibilitys to add mods to the game, drawing even more people and modders in, and they could gather feedback from the Steam communiuty and the countless talks aboit it on steam and other threads, which would be in the making cause it is released on pc and more important STEAM. Also, the game wont need a RTX 3080ti to run it, unless they implement ray tracing into it. So, anybody can run this beauty of a game on STEAM. We know tho, this will most likely not happen...

Yes I think the Jak trilogy should get a remaster/remake like the Crash N Sane Trilogy, level design doesn't need to change plus any cut content brought into the trilogy plus X Combat Racing getting a remaster but in the same vein as Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled. And Bring them to all consoles plus PC, its only the right thing to do now. They have done nothing with this IP in years.

@@Finger112 Yeah just porting the current engine to PC would be difficult considering how purpose built it is. The game engine is literally using the PS1 MIPS R3000 to handle asset streaming in the background while pushing it main memory. They would essentially need to rewrite most of the game engine.

Remember when Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper had movie trailers during the Super Bowl about almost a decade ago? Now Sly's movie/turned to a TV series got canceled and, Ratchet's movie released and Jak is possibly getting a live action movie. The odd one out may be coming on the big screen while Sly 5 may be happening too. Still a win win for all of them really, although a Sly movie would've been interesting too.

There are way too many fans that are just quiet because there hasn't been any explicit Jak rep for years. I have been dying for a new game or a remake of the originals for a long time. Feel kinda starved for AAA action platformers, and Jak and Daxter is one of my fave series, so I would be incredibly hyped for a new game in the series! I hope it happens. Also god I want to play the new ratchet and clank game...one of these days I will own my own ps5 :(.

After playing Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart I have to say between that game's action platformer mechanics and Spider-Man's open world design I think Insomniac would be the perfect team to bring back Jak & Daxter!

I think Jak & Daxter has so much potential in lore, world, characters, themes, tones, narratives, visuals that it could be made into ''The Clone Wars of PlayStation'', but that would require a team who actually understands and cares about the property so......yeah.....good luck with that....

I agree with you that if they did a movie they should do it in CG.... I also agree that Jak 2 & 3 would be best for a movie plot... but I think precursor legacy should be added in the form of flashbacks to help with some character building.

@@spira-virgo5746 Microsoft is still in the process to see if the deal goes through but its unlikely they would allow Toys For Bob or Beenox to help out the competition if they can stop it That being said there are several remakes / remasters studios with SIE owning Bluepoint Games

I think the best would be a reboot like God of War which is also a sequel at the same time.

i think it'd be cool if it was 2D animated. like really good, hand-crafted, smooth animation.
