Guess people only care about fancy graphics now on console as Jak was just a fun series with engaging gameplay vs every other 3rd person cover shooter with light stealth mechanics. Seriously miss the Jak series. I know know it didn't sell as well back then, but gaming is also way bigger now and games just in general sell better.

They can even put Sly Cooper on PC. Think of all the cool features they can put on that game when it release on the PC.

You know what someone should do as a mod? Make the 3 games into one! Let us use the Precursor machine to travel to Jak 2 In game, then make it available to be used to go to The Precursor Legacy. After that there could be a way, maybe a secret mission to start the events of Jak 3! Jak & Daxter all in one game. And if you go back to the first one after beating 2 there could be new things to do there, maybe a secret last precursor Cell even.

What I find interesting looking back on the Mario 64 decompilation is that after the pc port, fans began porting the game to other hardware like the Vita and Dreamcast. I’m very interested in what ports we could get of Jak and Daxter, a port to Wii would blow my mind.

They also utilized the Mario 64 port to decompile Ocarina of Time and they're currently working on Majora's Mask as well. I still can't believe these people do most of this for free.

The issue is this port requires a processor with AVX, so anything without AVX can't run this port. That tech is about 10+ years old so it's not that bad.

We got Crash and Spyro already I am supired that Toys for Bob and Vicarious Visions didn't do a remake with UE4 like they did with Crash and Spyro just yet. bet Jak would look awesome remade with UE4.

I can just copy what I posted already. Yeah a PC Port for Sly and Co is possible, but NOT from the People work on OpenGOAL! The project is called OpenGOAL for a reason. GOAL is the engine the 4 Jak Games run on. And they recreated it, fitting for PC. So they can only port Games with this knowledge, that run on GOAL. So for Sly and other games, the Fanbase of these games have to do it.

I'm actually glad I subbed to you otherwise I would have lived my life without knowing this exists. Please do an update when the other Jak and Daxter games get released

I have a bit of a focus on Jak & Daxter here on the channel, unfortunately with the franchise being dormant it’s hard to make content on it but any chance I get I’ll talk about it! Hopefully this is the beginning of something for the J&D space!

Amazing port, I tried it on a bad PC and it still ran well. Ran fine on a radeon 2200u and vega 3. It has native ultrawide, super ultrawide, and other screen sizes. Game looks gorgeous and is the definitive way to play it I think. Used my 3080 and 12700k on the game on native 3440x1440 and it's shocking how gorgeous this port is. Words can 't really describe it.

@@Peubescent Believe i used ntsc greatest hits version and had no issues so I dont know how/if it cares about version.

We can come to term with the fact that NG won't ever do anything more with this IP, only Sony keeps on selling and updating the Collection on every PS store...

Lisp is absolutely not prehistoric. It is one of the oldest language families, but it was just absurdly way ahead of its time, as if someone had invented the laser guided bomb before the wheel. The lisp dialect used for that game series has capabilities that many MODERN game engines STILL don't have, like for example being able to write code that writes code for you. But in particular it allowed Jak and Daxter to do things like loading and saving in parallel with actual gameplay because it had coroutine support. And it made it possible for the devs to develop and make changes to the game's source code (both to the game and to the actual game engine) while the game was running, without having to reboot it each time. The Jak and Daxter series was an absolute work of art and it is really nice to see it preserved.

This is incredible. They should add the unused tracks from the first Jak game to the music selection menu aswell. That way we'll finally get to hear it in game. Also I could be pushing it, but I wonder if it would be cool to have an option to view the unused gol and maia cut scene as Jak and Daxter leave Misty Island.

something to think about is that during the development of r&c 1, naughty dog and insomniac were trading dev tips back and forth and during that, someone at insomniac had the task of translating naughty dog's coding techniques into a more common coding language (I believe it was C sharp) so there is a chance down the line that native ports for the ps2 ratchet games could happen but i think it'd take a while because those games used so many tricks to get them to function on a ps2 disk and in general they're pretty taxing

Oh yeah, I saw an article about this port and immediately downloaded the decompiler. I still own the original games and have been excitedly playing it on PC since! Its amazing how much better at the game I am now as an adult compared to years ago when I first got it as a kid. Super excited for Jak II, Jak 3, and potentially Jak X

I love how they added subtitles to this port. It’s so cool I think!

I hope Sony will take inspiration of that to release both Jak and Ratchet on PC. I know they are a huge part of consoles but I think they need to be released on PC to show how Sony's platformers are beautiful ^^

I really like how those precursor orbs glow up now. Very cool addition I think.

i dont see insomniac taking other ps IP's tbh. they have too much respect for the other ps studios. plus i think they want the respective studios to do it. they already denied sly cooper. and i also want them to focus on their own ip's

@@KnucklesWTD I was always under the impression that those were all dedicated ports since there appear to be many changes in them. They're perfectly valid ways to play the game but they lack the freedom of customization that a PC port would have. Mainly I would like to be able to run the games at 4K internally, and output to a CRT at any resolution I want, such as 240p, 480p, etc. for perfectly rendered, beautiful scanlines.

@@Ay-xq7mj Even if they were so easy to emulate it doesnt change the fact that a PC port is much more accurate than emulation, plus they can make the game skip all of the console limitations (like limited draw distance) or add new options to the game or modding them.

Thanks for the instructions (drag and drop the iso). Trying to follow the github instructions had me confused, even though I have lots of experience of compiling on windows and linux.

Jak X wasn't my cup of tea because it was *only* racing which for me, a kid at the time, wasn't fun. But it's a great game for what it is. A Jak racing game. It wasn't bad either. I just prefer a sandbox shoot em up/punch, walk, and jump type of Jak gameplay. The Lost Frontier however was just not even worth my time. I won't be too detailed because to be fair, I've never played it. For me, the series died after Jak x but officially ended after Jak 3.

I just finished Jak 3 this morning after marathoning the trilogy on PS4, and can confirm those performance issues, (especially in 2 and 3) like frame-rate drops, graphical glitches and few cutscenes having sound and images mismatch. This PC port seems like a real work of art, I might have to try it seeing as I also love the Precursors Legacy the best.

The fps settings don't seem to save upon restarting the program, is there any way to make your changes permanent?

Agree with what you said about Sony/PlayStation going back to older titles. Arc the Lad 1 to 4 (this series even had a 2 season anime, for crying out loud!) - End of Darkness and R (mobile/gacha) can sod off Grandia Drakengard Maybe a third Chrono title? (Trigger, Cross) I'd rather have these older titles renewed and wow newcomers, than whatever passes for a video game today... Just my opinion though

a doubt: the glitches for any% speed run are mantained? on same spots?

The characters being in frame when they shouldn't be is a resolution thing im sure. Experienced the same thing with kh when I forced it to 4K on emulators.

I find that the image is quite blurry when moving the camera, like shadow trails of moving objects. Other than that, it runs smooth 60fps and is way better than both PS4/PS5 versions of the game

The instructions state you can use the debug menu but pressing the period key “.” In the graphics menu. I tried this but nothing happened. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

These were absolutely some of my favorite games back in the day. I am still on them now and replay them every so often but I do wish naughty dog would reappquire the rights to these games since they sold it off and finish making Jack And Dexter 4

This is great I loved Jak & Daxter, I've been playing the hell out of this port since yesterday instead of over on PCSX2 since it just runs better and looks better. But if someone was to actually re-create the Jak trilogy including Jak X Racing, then I hope they'll use UE4 like Toys for bob did for Spyro reignited, just think how incredible it would look with UE4 or even UE5 with raytracing!

@2MuchRiceWine yeah. Jak 1 hat such a nice world to Explorer and its just a very cozy and "magical" game imo. The others while being good games are Just not comparable.

Not sure if "Yosemite"(a cut level) would be added into this remaster.

The mouse doesn't work but there are buttons to look left and right : spent a good hour playing with just keyboard

I think that all this information is very interesting.

This is official? Is it possible to Naughty Dog's Crash games get such PC ports too? Also, did ND themselves port their own games on PC and have someone else but SCE to publish them or something?

I'm going to be honest... I don't want a reboot or a sequel... I want a recreation that is the same game just looking cleaner and maybe having a few quality of life add ons (which can be optional)... Something like the Crash remakes if you will... We don't need everything to have a sequel... sometimes, we should let a trilogy be a trilogy...

Setting it up is super easy aswell. All you need is the launcher, and your own iso. Ofcourse recommended that you get your own from your own copy of the game, but there ofcourse is the illegal way which, obviously isn't recommended..

If they added achievements in the menu or something then this would be the ultimate version for me without question... I just love achievements along with my games and since Jak 1 is a collectathon then achievements would be nice milestones

canot wait for jak 2 and the others i know there emulation but there still not well on emulation

I can't wait for that one guy to finish the Yosemite level and add it back into the opengoal PCL like the creators of Jak abd daxter orginally wanted to do but that will take a while. Also imagine if as opengoal continues they do add in cheats like you said and some of those cheats are just Jak 2 and 3 mode like the game takes color palettes and you can play as those versions of the characters. Heck who knows maybe when they finish porting Jak 2 and 3, and that guy finished Yosemite they'll add Yosemite in as an update including the mission in the mines to get it as well as Yosemite's power cells and have Yosemite's lake bottom be the entrance to Snowy mountain and then just link Jak 2 and 3 to the PCL like you finish one game it puts you right into the next and after beating all 3 you can travel between the 3 freely.

Has anyone played the new ps plus with jak and daxter?! I tried the 2nd game and the whole thing felt off to me like the graphics and controls weren't quite right and I struggled making simple jumps

It would be cool if someone leveraged this code and whatnot to try and make a Jak Breath Of the Wild sort of fan game. Damn

I actually tried burning an ISO of my PAL copy. Unfortunately, it didn't work! So I downloaded an ISO of an NTSC copy and it DID work. To potential players: Make sure to download an ISO of the NTSC version[s] and make sure you own the original game[s] in one way or another before you do so. Also, from what I've played, this is just impressive. I wonder if someone out there will do something similar to the OG Ratchet and Clank trilogy, the Sly trilogy or even some other unexpected thingy like Armored Core's Controller Saga (3 - Last Raven).

RTX option when? :D Seriously though, this is amazing. I personally don't have the patience, nor skill honestly, to create any mods for this. Once some mods have been made by others though, I will play the crap out of this again!
