The most underrated singer-songwriter of the moment AFAICT.

My mom loved Jessi and my dad loved the Stones and the Outlaws...Waylon, Willie and friends. I heard that very specific country vibe all thru my days as a child. I can’t say I’m a country boy at heart. I can’t stand all the cocaine LA country pop of those artists that straddle the line between pop and county, churning out tepid by the numbers tunes that offend nobody and attract I don’t know...frat guys and suburban fly over state girls on their way to the nail salon? It’s like ear pollution. It’s got no heart or soul. A twang in the guitar don’t make it country. Then I hear something like this. Sweet Mess and Neon Cross and my heart soars and I think about my mom and dad and I know there are still a few outlaw hearts out there putting it all out there on their sleeves.

SO good! The first time i heard it I had to look the song up, because I didn't recognize the voice thinking it was a classic country song. Turns out it was new!

Soooooo good! Thank you for bringing Jesi Colter along. What a legend she is. It's a bit like k.d. lang meets Barbara Mandrell. Love the song, the lyrics, the production. It's so awesome and somewhat rare when we get new Good Country like this. ❤
