I was there that day. When Anderson missed the place went INSANE! It was awesome!

Me too! Nosebleed section, I was 11 yrs old. The win against the Titans on the 7th reminded me of this.

Here’s a fun fact: it’s 2024 as of now, and the Jacksonville skyline has not changed AT ALL since this game, aside from a few buildings they’ve demolished. This truly is a city that doesn’t grow.

Completely changes the AFC playoff landscape. If Andersen makes that kick, KC gets in and probably gets blown out in Buffalo. I can't see Buffalo doing to Denver what Jacksonville did and Denver OWNED the Patriots at this point. So you get a Broncos/Packers Super Bowl and while the Elway-less Broncos were whooped 41-6 in Green Bay, Super Bowl XXXI was on the fast track in New Orleans, which played to some of the Broncos advantages. I think Green Bay wins, but it would've been a great game IMHO.

I think so too. The biggest thing that hurt Green Bay in 97 was losing Howard, they went from one of the best punt/kick return teams to one of the worst, and all the return yards Howard had in Superbowl 31 really made the difference (the 99 yard return was just one of many good returns by him), and they probably would have won 32 if they still had him.

This was the last game for June Jones as Atlanta Falcons head coach. June Jones was fired the next day 5 years ago today. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars went to the playoffs as the Jaguars defeated the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card Game, then Defeated the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Playoff Game and lost to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

The Jags clinching a 2022 NFL playoff berth on the last week of the regular season with a win against the Titans brought me here.

@@jonathanfrimerman8855 However, the Jags are in the AFC since they existed while the Falcons are in the NFC.

One of the most Falcon-y losses in NFL history. Obviously it comes up short of Super Bowl 51, but this has to be right up there.

Clay Matthews Junior's 1,561 tackles are topped only by Jessie Tuggle and Ray Lewis. His 248 starts at linebacker remain an NFL record, ahead of Junior Seau’s 243.

It's so weird to see regular fans and local news at NFL games. In the 90s corporate america and late-stage capitalist hell had not quite caught up to the league yet.
