Jaguar XK8 - Adamesh Exhaust Sound and Comparison to Stock

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Jaguar XK8 now has a new exhaust system! In this video I take the car on a drive to find out what it sounds like plus a comparison to the stock system.
The exhaust I bought and had fitted was the Adamesh performance exhaust Stage 1 (rear silencer delete) and Stage 2 (over-axle sections) which really do release more of that V8 noise! However, as you can see in the video, cruising along is almost no different than before :-)

    Robert Walton cool! Yeah I really like the exhaust as you can probably tell from the video, I used a local exhaust specialist but it wasn’t that cheap, essentially the same cost again for the exhaust to fit it! But the work is guaranteed and it did need some fettling to make it fit perfectly.

    I enjoyed two manual gearbox XJ6's when I had children growing up and they are a very practical car for a family and had the stunning performance with the manual gearbox. That's probably why the same engine and gearbox was in the Aston Martin DB7. Once my family were grown up and the second XJ6 was tired, I bought the XKR 4.2 supercharged and I am very pleased with it in factory spec. but often wonder what it would be like with a manual gearbox. nice vid. I enjoyed seeing excitement on your face while driving around, I would prob look similar ( mixture of joy, excitement and a bit of fear caused by this mighty engine sound and by the fact you can so easily just press pedal a bit too log and get a massive speeding fine ) . At first I thought why is he messing up with with this beautiful as it is classic car? but after comparing before and after sound and the sound inside cabin I totally agree that it sounds way better with new exhaust and it's kind of what Jag should have done when they designed exhaust for that car. I'm only missing view from few angles how new exhaust look like when fitted but other than that great vid.

    Hi! Just interested in how you’re getting on with this exhaust system however many months on? I’ve read a few people complain about an annoying drone at 60mph or below. I’d love to make my XK8 sound more lively, but as same time keep it at a pleasant cruiser. How is it between 70-90mph speeds noise wise? Or is the drone annoying at any other speeds? Any feedback appreciated!

  • @granblogismo

    @granblogismo

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi! I really like this exhaust and it makes some great noises, I don’t find any annoying drone at a particular speed it’s more that when you’re on part throttle it doesn’t sound as good in the car as it does outside. Maintaining a constant speed I don’t find the noise intrudes into the cabin it’s when you’re accelerating slowly or going uphill it makes more noise, I guess some would find this annoying but it doesn’t really bother me. I would definitely choose the same system if I had to choose again price:sound ratio is spot on 🤣

    Pedro Alcazar great stuff! Yeah I like the oval tips over the quad for a few reasons, one is I didn’t want people to think I was trying to make it look like a later model XKR and also I saw that the fit of the quads didn’t look quite right on a lot of cars standard bumpers where the ovals fill the cutouts perfectly 😊👍

  • @ponzon52

    @ponzon52

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yup... Linked to the first reason, I'm trying to keep my car's look as stock as possible... Looking into modifications people do to these cars, I've seen the likes of Arden (www.arden.de/en/refinement/jaguar/xk/xk8-xkr-1996-2005/), charging customers a lot of money for visual "upgrades", which I believe end up ruining the XK8/R understated/elegant stance... In the end, it's a matter of personal taste, but I must say adding bits of plastic to my car is not my cup of tea 🙂 I rather real mods, such as upgraded suspension and braking systems, or improved traction and cornering behavior by adding a proper limited slip diff... They make a real difference, and change the character of the car, without ruining its GT characteristics.

    Hi Mick! No probs, if I remember it was about the same as the price of the exhaust itself, so around 4-500 pounds. Sounds pricey but they took their time with it, shortened some of the pipe work and fabricated/welded sturdier brackets for a better and more secure fit so I think it was ok value based on the extra work, hope that helps? Cheers!

    No need to be sorry, it’s a personal preference so some prefer the quieter, classier sound of the original whilst others like to hear the v8 rumble! As for value it’s true that an original, un-modified car will always be worth more but my original system was past its best so needed to be replaced anyway, it only matters if I sell I suppose, which I won’t for a while at least! Thanks for the comment! 👍

    granblogismo i love your vídeos and your xk8, at least the pipes are not too much extended from the car and they are pretty chrome. Now in Spain we all must be at home due the Covid19, I feel like so much to drive my xj8, 4.2 racing green . Enjoy your xk8!!!
