Jaguar XJS V12 1994 6.0 litre. Another really really well edited video .. this time showing the removal of the ECU and installation of the AJ6 Engineering chip that comes with their TT Basic extractor.

You should change those old crappy Philips electrolytics to new 105 degrees celsius / 63 volt Panasonic ones!

Sir , good video but didn't explain or showed any results of this exchange of chip.. that's the whole idea for everyone to see if it's worth the money and time. You didn't explain what AJ6 guarantees if you install..

Fair point well made. To be honest there's 2 reasons for this. 1 is that this video was very early in my KZread channel, I didn't really know what I was doing other than filming my work, mostly as a diary for myself but shared as it may (or may not) be of use to others. 2 is that I haven't had much opportunity to test. I quickly moved from exhaust replacement to subframe restoration etc. Last year I drove 7 miles, so no chance of any report re. performance etc! I think it's important to state this chip is not a performance chip, it is simply a tweak to the fuelling, supposedly to benefit torque at low speed due to the increased flow provided by the twin extractor downpipes. So to the driver, there would be little if any noticeable difference, the only difference being noise changes due to the exhaust design. If you're looking for performance, you need to look to forced air, turbo/supercharger and the associated cooling, fuelling etc upgrades.

@@jaguarxjsocd .. I apologize if I sounded demanding. I understand these videos are a pain to make. Great job on your first video. You were the first ever to install those AJ6 chips ,, congratulations.. How did you manage to purchase just the chip.. I was under the impression you have to send your entire module for him to rebuild. How much did you pay? After the several kilometres of driving do you notice a difference in power? Is it worth it? My son and I have chromed and polished the entire engine straight exhaust except for small muffler at back. Removed all pollution control and only one fuel regulator, custom 3" snorkel intake pipes.. Thank you for your time. Pete

@@petehalasz7547 no haha not demanding at all, I value feedback on my videos! So there is a difference between the chip supplied with the AJ6 Engineering twin extractors and the "uprated ECU". The chip supplied to me came with the exhaust system, as a self installation item. In the few miles I've driven I've not noticed any particular change to engine power/delivery. I have also run the car in the garage with the oem chip with no noticeable difference. Perhaps this year I will drive with each chip and note any changes. The "uprated ECU" may offer noticeable performance changes, as I've not tried it I can't comment! If you want my opinion on value, my personal opinion is replacing the exhaust with a quality stainless steel exhaust is always value from a point of view that it's rust free and easy to maintain/remove/replace. On my car now the entire exhaust can be removed in an hour and replaced in a similar time, all fittings are immaculate and correct. Compare this to the bent, crumbling ends and fittings previously, it's definitely worth it. I have AJ6 downpipes and mid pipes (no mid silencers). I then have Simply Performance over axle pipes and rear silencers.
