Jaguar XJR-14 onboard with David Brabham at Goodwood Festival of Speed - Iconic Racing

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

For the first time in 32 years David Brabham is reunited with the Jaguar XJR-14 at the 30th Goodwood Festival of Speed. The 2009 Le Mans Winner had a fabulous week end with what he describes as "the most impressive car he has ever raced." Volume up and enjoy every second of the run at 11500rpm.
The Jaguar XJR-14 is the last evolution of the TWR Jaguar Group C, built to FIA « Category 1 » specifications. The regulation allowed a minimum weight of 750kg and the use of a 3,5 liter Formula 1 engine. Designed by Ross Brawn who affectiously nick named it the « The Fat F1 » it generates a downforce-to-drag ratio of 4,2 which is 0,2 points higher than the 2023 Hypercars. These fabulous Jaguars largely dominated the 1991 World Sports Cars Championship, with Teo Fabi and TWR clinching the titles. Only four cars were made and two remain in existence in driving condition. The XJR-14 is widely considered as a piece of art, a master car in the motorsport history.
The car here is chassis X91 which was assembled in 2002 by Lanzante, this is the fourth and last one built from the left over parts and an all new chassis built by original TWR manufacturer ASTEC. It has been recently raced with success in Group C Historic series in 2019, and in 2021-2022 has been subject to a concourse quality restoration by our racing team Iconic Racing.

"He won the Japanese GT championship way back in the 1960s". Very impressive for someone born in 1965.

@@iconicracing me confused? No, I suspect the commentator just misread his notes as he sounded like he was struggling for something to say. David Brabham won the All Japan Grand Touring Championship in 1996.

Fairly typical for the commentators on these - regularly make some cock up or other.

David Brabham is one of the underrated drivers in my opinion. Back in the 90s at Symtek in F1 or later in the Petit Le Mans Series in the Panoz Roadster, he always caused surprises and made supposedly better drivers look old. One of my favorite riders

What a wonderfull machine! The most impressive thing for me, is when he goes up a gear and actually, somehow, it sounds as if the engine gonne up in revs and power and not the other way around. That is when you know that the damn thing has really monstrous accelaration!

I'm always very ambivalent about the XJR-14 - On the plus side, it's an incredible machine, stunningly fast and, of course, retook the championship for Jaguar, but on the other hand, it's a 3.5 litre Group C and that was Ecclestone's and FISA's way to kill the series, making it the same engine spec and just as expensive as F1, which had better coverage and, of course, made more money for Ecclestone.

True, but it's not a DFV, it's a grandson of the DFV called Ford Cosworth HB 3 with 3.5 liters
