Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Martin Brundle and the Jaguar XJR go back a long way.
For the first time in 29 years, Martin Brundle is reunited with one of his Jaguar XJR-12s for a nostalgic blast at Silverstone, together with his son Alex, also a sports car driver and broadcaster.
Read the full nine-page feature in the current July issue of Motor Sport magazine, including an interview with the car’s designer, Tony Southgate and a profile of the genius behind the team, Tom Walkinshaw.

Same enthusiasm.. Same brilliant use of words.. Same intonation... Alex sounds just like his Dad... What a talented family.. You can just tell how proud Martin is.

"theEEE ammmauuuuunt of cooling in that car, you could fit a family of four in that." Alex really is a chip off the old block. Lovely video.
You can see Alex having to try really hard to exert the physical force required to drive an analogue car. Martin’s got old school core strength, even at his age. Big fan of these 2 guys

Don't forget the Aston Martin AMR1s in 89, by Sunday morning they were getting as big a cheer from the Jag supporters as the XJRs. And at the start of group C you also had the Ferrari engined, Martini Lancia's, the AM Nimrods, and the Group 44 XJR5s. Toyota's, Nissan's, wish we could go back to then, much better than LMP. At least that's better than F1.

Had he not broken both his ankles badly in an accident at the Dallas GP in 1984, he may very well have been a consistent winner. They nearly amputated his left foot, such was the severity of that accident.

p jay I never implied Brundle was on the same level as Schumi or Lauda, just that his particular injuries are pretty detrimental to being fast in a racing car. Those two champs were clearly in the highest level of driver, but guys like Brundle were still quick and capable. It’s a well known fact that Brundle could no longer left foot brake after that accident. Similarly Johnny Herbert had a horrific accident in f3000 where he broke both ankles so badly, one foot was practically hanging off by a thread and he was never the same despite a handful of wins in F1. Point being, both could’ve been faster if not for having their feet smashed to bits.

Martin called in sick for the last F1 broadcast, Alex replaces him, and no-one noticed. What a sweet car, love it. Awesome vid, love it. Loved Martin's little dig, "Give it plenty of clutch, you know, it's the one on the left."
All Group C cars are iconic. The series was legendary
Alex you sound like your father in every way. In the use of words, and descriptions. The commentary is safe well into the future.
How amazing. Both father and son Le Mans specialists. Martin won both the world championship, and Le Mans. Alex came second in the world championship, and came second at Le Mans. I love the way that he said both around trophies are side by side in the cabinet which is really sweet. But yeah, what a car that was. I'd give anything to drive that. Insane era.
Great to see father and son take this incredible car out. I was at Le Mans in 1990 when Martin and the Jaguar team won.. Brilliant to see.
Lucky enough to say I saw these cars fighting the Mercedes, at Silverstone, Donington, and I was also at Le Mans in 1990, great days!!!!
I’ve always loved Jaguar’s racing cars and the XJR-12 is my favorite. Love the sound of that beautiful V-12.

Two other legends in that film , Andy Wallace and Tim Harvey .
When he's done driving Alex is gonna be a great commentator just like his dad, you can hear he has that same access to easy and fun phrases, very pleasant to listen to and is a chip off the old block for sure!
Superb stuff. I will never forget being at the Group C races in era, of which I never missed a single World Sports Car / Drivers event in the UK.

Damn beautiful car that was during its day. I miss the big Jag's roaring around the track chased by Porche 962's
He's a lovely young bloke - I hope he gets into broadcasting too - he has a real authenticity that cuts well to camera. Funny watching Brundle junior wrestling, you can see the effort and the G's managing that brute of a racecar - but the old boy was perfectly relaxed as he cheerfully hustled one of the most intimidating engines of all time through the lunacy that is La Sarthe. Beautiful.
I could watch a regular channel from the Brundles! Love Martin and his son Alex who basically sounds so alike
That is a thing of beauty. I loved the XJR Jags of this time
Thanks a bundle both you Brundles!!👀👍
