Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A quick note for Jaguar XJ X350 owners. Check those brake pipes hidden under covers. They can split as we found out recently! Hopefully this video might save somebody from a dented Jaguar or worse! This is a very common issue on most cars at this age. From experience especially with cars that lives in moist conditions with salty winter roads you have to thoroughly inspect brakes pipes all ready from the car is 5-6 years of age!!

Thanks so much for watching and for your comment. Yes, for sure the salt and the damp conditions don't help. Both rear lines failed at the same time on this one under a plastic cover which was trapping mud/dirt/water. Unfortunately, checking these things is something a lot of us neglect to do until something fails. Thanks again and all the best! Tony StudioCarsOfPreston 👍🏻

I will have to check mine, but thought you were going to say the tank straps let go. They are known for rusting out and I bought stainless ones when I bought my car, though 4 years on still not fitted yet. I have inspected the originals regularly which remain OK though.

What happened to the days of dual brake systems!?

  • @studiocarsofpreston

This is a dual circuit system but sadly BOTH rear lines split at the exact same time under the same plastic cover that was trapping mud/dirt/water. Sadly it something a lot of us never think to or want to bother checking. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you continue to enjoy the channel! 👍🏻

Who would have thought that a 15-21 year old cars steel brake pipes might be rotten ? working in an MOT garage for 17 years most cars of that age have had to have most, if not all of their brake pipes replaced with copper, went through rolls and rolls of the stuff.

Hi and thanks for watching and for the feedback. No, I understand completely what you're saying but a lot of people don't think about it so, I was just trying to make people aware......The fact you use rolls of copper tells us that not a lot of drivers check these things (I'm guilty too!) until you guys have a look at MOT time. Just trying to look out for the fellow Jaggers and save some bent bonnets! Genuine thanks again and all the best. 👍🏻

U have to pull the e brake for a long time(like 5-10s) it functions as a emergency brake and it has to, every vehicle is mandated to have a emergency brake!

@@studiocarsofpreston I might have to try an "emergency" parking brake stop the next time I drive my XJ8. I don't want to wait until I have to do a panic stop in anger... that will be the wrong time to discover if it'll work!

Last year despite a service from a useless Jaguar specialist and a pre MOT check the tester split a rear brake hose on my XJR. The repair turned into a comedy of errors and a realisation of how many dangerous mechanics are loose on cars they don't understand

Original pipes from jag are around 200. Awkward to fit but will see out the car.

Load of bollox, I've had a lot of jags in my life and never had one that the brakes failed. I did have a Audi that had a split brake pipe ! 👍

Thanks for watching. Sorry the video wasn't for you. I was just trying to make people aware of a potential issue. I suppose it can happen on any car with steel brake pipes of age but often if they're behind plastic covers it can go unnoticed until they fail. Both rear pipes on this one split in the same place at the exact same time under the same plastic cover which was trapping mud/dirt/water etc. It's not something that people check and can't even be checked at MOT due to the covers. Just trying to save bent bonnets! Genuine thanks again for the feedback. 👍🏻

I’ve owned a 2006 x350 since almost new, this guy is talking rubbish, I’ve never heard of brake failure from any fellow x350 Jag club owners, I guess he’s just trying to make money out of a nonsense video

I'm genuinely sorry, disappointed, and a little.bit surprised that the video has upset you to the point of commenting negatively not only once but then to come.back and comment AGAIN 2 weeks later?! WOW! Really touched a nerve with this one! OK, your X350 hasn't suffered this issue, which is good news. This issue happened to me. It is my own recent experience. I have owned MANY X350s, and granted, this is the first time I have experienced it, fortunately, but there are other X350 owners in this very comment section who have experienced the same thing. Jaguar recalled 2003 and 2004 cars in 2009 due to this very issue! I don't understand why, me trying to draw people's attention to a potential failure that could compromise their safety and the safety of others would upset you so much? Because it hasn't happened to you or YOUR X350 (which, because you have owned for a long period, are probably well versed with regard to its maintenance and condition. Some new owners, or those who aren't mechanically minded, those who don't have all the maintenance history, may not have the same understanding of their vehicle), it's rubbish?! OK. Well, thanks for the constructive feedback. And please enlighten me as to how I'm trying to make money from it?? Again, I'm genuinely sorry the video wasn't for you, but if one person somewhere benefits from it, then I'm happy. Safe motoring.
