Ediff is the reason for the larger diameter, you're right. Hopefully you can find another 5.0 SC or XFR half axle. I assume you have the workshop manual already?

Did you ever get an CV Axle? where did you go?

You have to be the worst mechanic I have ever seen . They have those CV Axles on Amazon for 100 dollars
