Jaguar Supercharger Check

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Checking for engine knock to see if it is the coupler in the supercharger in my salvage Jaguar XF V8 from 2009. Checking all the easy things first before making any final calls on the engine.

Alternatively - start the car and listen in onto the supercharger with a screwdriver

I’ve seen other’s wiggle the pulley back n forth, and that creates a slight knocking sound. Instead of spinning in one direction. I just tried it on mine tonight bc it’s taken apart

I think wiggle and spinning create different sounds for different (possible) issues. Hopefully, yours is okay, though!

Hi guys, please help me, Jaguar Xj 5.0 supercharged. The water goes into the oil in large quantities quickly. Do you have any idea what might be causing this? Gasket? Oil Cooler? Thanks.

Doesn't sound good but usually it is a blown head gasket. Might be able to do a pressure test on the system.

AJ133 notorious for Coolent leaks under the supercharger, coolant cross-over pipe.. Also a blown head gasket too.. could be either or both.

The first video I seen showed me you had a rod bearing that was toast ,this video showed me you have no idea what your doing and sam crack led you in the wrong direction....you should have been able to wiggle a half inch ratchet in the tensioner ....if you still have the car reply

It's all a journey and exploring all possibilities. Love your enthusiasm though! You'd be surprised but you cannot get a ratchet inside there, I thought you could too but you cannot. Too wide and the space is too tight. Samcrac also had the right idea with his Jag issue but it's too bad that his issue and mine were not the same. I don't give up easily and just say "well, it makes noise, I'm done!" I like to make double, and triple sure, on what the real issue is before giving up.

@@calwright29 I did. If you see the later videos, I talk about it but I'll put the spoiler in here for you haha. It was rod bearings.

@@GTSamHey, I’m coming from an 640i N55 (those engine are quite know from rod bearing issues) and I had to change for a car a bit cheaper that is nice to drive and I’ve read plenty of nice reviews concerning AJ34S are the rod bearing a common problem on those engine or is it a lack of maintenance from the previous owner ?

@@Damien911 hey, almost missed this but glad to share my thoughts. I really believe using quality oil and a 99% filtration filter (quality filter too) and making sure the level is not low and you change it about 3000 miles, it could serve you well. European cars are so high strung that need so much care but that then makes them amazing. My Jaguar, I believe, looked like it was very well taken care of from the first owners records I found. But then was sold and then there was a trunk fire, fixed, and someone got it and abused it. Cheap oil and filter, COPER spark plugs (this ain't the 80s) and low oil level.
