    i got my 180hp diesel new nearly 2 years ago, performance is more than adequate, it is not supposed to be a racing car with the 2 litre diesel, my portfolio came in at approx £57k and has all the toys and whistles, put it in dynamic mode and performance still goes fairly mental! electric seats is an option on most models, mine came with electric seats except i also added memory seats amongst the plethora of upgrades hence the price

    Laurence said.."all the toys and whistles, put it in dynamic mode and performance still goes fairly mental!" ... I've had my 2.0D for less than a week, had been looking for a 3.0D but the one I bought came up at a good price... I'm used to a 3.0L X-type which is fast... the car I bought drives very well... first time I put it in dynamic and floored it... performance is totally mental.

    Get the impression he doesn't like the Jaguar. The 3.0 V6 would probably return half the fuel consumption and cost 3× times road tax. The 0 to 60 8.6 seconds quicker than my new Fiesta XR2 in 1986 so for a. near 2000kg vehicle that seems pretty quick for a diesel engine.

    Thanks for the review. I've got around £25k to spend and am really struggling to make a decision in this class. Trying to find something with good looks, decent mpg return, reliability and very importantly for me, an engaging drive, has been a challenge. My conclusion is I have to compromise in the looks dept and settle on the new shape X3. Would you agree?? P.S. I fully appreciate I can't expect the rewarding drive of my 2018 120d!!

  • @motorshedsteve

    My advice would be DON'T. Get the latest 3 series instead in a decent spec if you have the latest one anyway. The jags would be a downgrade in my honest opinion, would also lose more money and be less reliable. Check out my video on the bmw 640 gran coupe. Might be a car that you would like.

    Ooft, no easy answer to that one. I would say that the best all rounder for that sort of money is the VW Toureg. The R Line is a nice blend of style, performance and features. They are really common where I live though which is the only reason I didn't consider one. I'd also recommend the Porsche Cayenne, for 15k you could get a 2010/11 model. Great engine, drive is lovely and has the most comfortable car seats I've ever sat in outside of a rolls Royce. If you want something a touch newer you can't go wrong with a Mazda CX5. Not as luxurious as the Porsche but built well and they are superb value. At this price point I'd avoid the X5 because in all honesty it's crap. Horrible driving position, feels like you're sat on top of the thing and it just doesn't feel like a nice car, the older ones are better and the new ones are great. I have a lot of experience with Jaguar Lnad Rover cars and couldn't actually recommend one as reliability with electrics is an issue. Buying one is a gamble. I have videos on the Toureg and CX5. Hope that helps.

    This is so much different then ours in Canada. Mine is a 2019 S. You didn't mention my 3L petrol, which before the tune was 380hp mow 459hp. The sound alone makes it the best pic. Things like my sunroof, I didn't even know you can get one like a range rover, that doesn't open the roof.

  • @motorshedsteve

    @motorshedsteve

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yeah we don't get the 3ltr petrol in the UK, 70% of buyers went for the 2litre diesel and its terrible. The absolute worst thing though is the gearbox, worst auto I've experienced. Massive lag, making it dangerous pulling out at busy junctions etc. Hows the gearbox on yours?

  • @timk.537

    @timk.537

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@motorshedsteve that's right, I forgot you don't have the 3L, in anything, which is a shame.l really. Yes there is some lag i guess, but very little, less than any turbo anywhere, I have only heard 1 review even mention. The ZF 8 is obviously everywhere and it's a perfect application here, it's a shame that it's that bad. I believe the exact on the Fpace is a ZF HP75 which is probably the same tuning on the 2L as it is on all models, except SVR. I'm guessing they've initially programmed for 3L petrol, hence why it's better suited?

    @@timk.537 on a daily basis I find it a huge pain. Came from a bmw 640 GC, 3l twin turbo diesel with a perfect gearbox, so I guess it exaggerates the problem with the f pace. My XJ was the same but I don't remember it being quite as bad.

    You're probably right. I went for the good looking one though, hate the way the portfolio looks, alloys are small and naff looking and bumpers aren't as nice. Incidentally it's really hard to find good filming locations, as they need to be quiet, accessible, and discoverable in a short space of time. I review private owner cars all over the place, and don't always know the areas. Finding a good place to do the exterior shots is the the most challenging part of the review. Thanks for watching.
