I'm generally not a fan of 5-Speed conversions, but this is just fantastic. I love how you guys retain the original dimensions, no adapter plate, original ratios, original speedo drive and you're right, the later diaphragm-style pressure plate is the only way to go.

Richard Michael Owen is the Driven Man 2! Want one for my XJS.
What a time saver. Just bolts right in. Well done.
Sounds great. Now all I need is my old 66 DHC back that I stupidly got rid of 40 years ago for a 72 911!
Amazing product, great features. Pulling the engine needs also to be considered.

??? The engine has to be removed complete with gearbox regardless of model / engine / or which gearbox you use. The braces under the tunnel prevent the box from being removed on it's own. Not true that this conversion is "unique" in not requiring any sheet metal mods - the "short" Getrag 265 will fit the Series 1 / Series 2 SWB cars, the "long" Getrag (as used in the XJS) fits 2+2s and V12s. The Getrag doesn't need a special bell-housing either. Ask...
Sounds great , but what is the price PLEASE?
I heard it was not a simple drop in. It requires cutting and welding of a rear of trans body stiffener for clearance at the back. is this true?

Not true. We have installed several of these at American Powertrain

This makes the install so much easier.
I disagree that the concentric slave-cylinder is "far superior" to the carbon-ring release-bearing - and whether the bearing is a ball-race or a carbon-ring, isn't the point. The major difference is that the original 4-speed box - (or a 5-speed Getrag) - has an external slave cylinder. If the cylinder ever leaks, you undo the hose and two nuts and fit a new one. With a concentric cylinder inside the bell-housing, you will spend days removing/refitting the bonnet (hood) and the entire engine and gearbox just to change one little item. Not a good move...
