Jade Cong 玉琮,is said by archeologists that they were used in rituals and symbolised wealth and power. It was not found in graves of the common people, but royals. Some have said it maybe reminiscent of the shape of architecture at the time, and Japanese scholars even said that it may be used as an astronomical instrument. As for Bi 壁,it was likely used for rituals and ancestor worship. The shape is indeed like the sun or moon, and could be used to worship the heavens, the seas, the stars, the mountains, the Gods and the rivers etc. It could also be used as decorations to wear on clothes and to hang in the house as a protective totem to ward off evil spirits.

Thanks for asking. The idea is that they were not cut, rather they were sanded.

More interesting feedback in the comments section... lol. I do love the way cultures evolved similarly over time. There's a beauty to that and to the cyan nephrite.

Who gives these videos a thumbs down? I've never understood how people actively go find videos to give them a thumbs down.
