    Extended Interview?? Bro give that man at least an hour to speak, you didn't even scratch the surface... But thanks for being one of the first mainstream platforms to open up to him though

    No he's not. He's talented but he's not a genius. Most musical geniuses do jazz, not pop. He just has a really strong voice. But he's no musical genius. Julius Rodriguez, Emmet Cohen, Allyn Johnson. Those are musical geniuses. People need to stop overusing the word.

    Jacob doesn't just have perfect pitch, he has the ability to hear notes by their wavelength. There's a video where he plays notes on a tuned piano, then explains how pianos are tuned, and then sings the notes that the keys should be playing based on actual wavelength instead of relative pitch. It's completely wild.

  • @jas_bataille

    @jas_bataille

    That is perfect pitch tho. Like *actual* perfect pitch. It's extremely rare, but not impossible. I knew someone who was the son of a pipe organ tuner, his mom tuned pipe organs tubes. So she would take a file and adjust the angle at which the air entered the tube until it was a perfect pitch. I reckon he was able, too, to tell the difference between equal temperament and absolute pitch. A great violin maker trained from a young age, in the past, would be able to do this as well. I think Jacob might be one of the very last human beings with this capacity. It's sadly dying :(

    @@jas_bataille Exactly. However....you say it's dying. TBH, this is a skill you either have or you don't, it's not exactly what I'd call a trainable skill. I mean you CAN train it, like anything in life you can get better at it, but I guarantee only those who naturally have this skill will get far with it.
