A truly amazing clip. I came here from a Peggy Lee and Toots video...clicked on the thumbnail and was totally blown away. Toots, I happily, know something of him. Until 9 minutes and 9 seconds ago, I was not familiar with Mr. Pastorius and his muscianship, but may have heard him and was not aware of him by name. In any event, The young man in this video, sort of knows his way around a bass guitar(said in jest, with high, high respect). Jaco smiling as noted by others...who could not smile when in the company of that smiling, bespectacled, humble., harmonica, playing gift from God. Thank you Toots, and thank you Jaco. Jaco, I'm 73 and "discovered" and became an instant fan of Stevie Ray Vaughn a few years ago, after he had passed away. I just "discovered " you and became an instant fan. Man, my timing sucks:). Thank you gentlemen, for what you left behind and rest in peace.

+Jennifer Vincent happy a piece like this really demonstrates his ability to arrange. Jaco was a master arranger and it becomes easier to see why his family, his original choice of instrument all contribute to as masterful a player, a composer and an arranger, let alone one of the most innovative players in the genre of jazz, as Gil Evans or Duke Ellington. Miles for that matter. Man alive i screwed up my thumb playing this this morning. you know when you hit 50 and you jump on the kit without lots of warm up you can hurt yourself quite bad. all these old guys who still tour, I don't where they get the energy. I have to start warming up at 10AM if I want to play jazz by 2 in the afternoon. But with all that warm up you get other problems like carpal tunnel which is deadly to an instrumentalist as my self. I play some guitar and piano my self. Good to see Jaco has nice young people adore him for his playing. I will never forget the morning I was headed off to school and I heard that he had died the night before. Well to my generation, in a strange sort of way that was like our Hendrix dying. OK don't hate me for saying that anybody. It is a contextual thing. When I arrived at school some of my friends were quite glum about the whole thing. I guess that is the considered difference between a fan and a colleague. He does look happy though doesn't he?

This has to be my most favorite song ever
two great musicians having a wonderful experience...
So musical video. :) This dialog is awesome. :)
Two of the coolest, together again, tho never apart....
7:46 - Great lick, and that face!!
Marvelous. Jaco had a big band? I never knew that... and the writing for them was equal to the virtuosity of Toots and Jaco out front.

The Word of Mouth band. It was named after his 2nd solo album. Existed for about 4 years after he left Weather Report. The double album 'Twins' or 'Invitation' is possibly the best example of their music.

Looked like it was a piece of true jazz history...........
Thanks so much for posting.
What a pairing. They are both clearly enjoying this performance and that's so great to witness. Thank you for sharing this. Am so glad it popped up.
Toots and Jaco the real deal!!!
Sophisticated Lady, has a name....NINA, unique, wordefull.
I WANT TO LIKE THIS MORE OFTEN!!!!!
Their sounds mix perfectly.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong but it looked like the band got up this chart saying,...."oh, hey, they've gone on to Sophisticated Lady. Get it up. Hurry!"

Was thinking the same thing right when I heard that lick!!
@teleringendevermaeck HA HA HA!! hilarious response. Took the words right out of my mouth.
Thanks wonderful performance video. I subscribed :) Pianist Kiyoshi from Japan.
this IS Sophisticated Lady. Head starts at 2.20'...
wow and then some!!
Toots...what else is there to say. He sang through a mouth harp. Simple, anyone can do it but just Toots did it so you knew from the first note what was coming at you and from whom.

Instantly recognizable
I would love to know what toots said into jacos ear. I would like to think it was something like ...' this is the dogs bollocks'. Pure joy from toots when the band kicks in. He knew this was the work of a genius.
magnifical !
waht a bassplayer!!
World of Mouth World Tour this Concert
I am so glad I discovered Toots. Better late... Jaco is, of course, the boss of bass
now they enchant the paradise…
it's great.
Sin palabras...
Ah wow ..........
Yes. As impressive as Jaco was (R.I.P.), Toots was the teacher here.
very cool
music/magic
very nice
weather report....eternal sunshine
outside is better than space, just ask miles....

@Pastirulo that's a bold statement. He was great on the fretless, but there r (were) others. Like Charles Mingus, Stanley Clarke etc. I'll just leave u with those 2 to think about.
