This man's talent isn't obfuscated in any way. He's just genuinely good, and doesn't have to hide behind any goofy gimmicks or quirks to show it. I tried so hard for years not to like Jackson Browne, and I just couldn't make myself like him. He's just downright outstanding. I feel like my parents. Bummer.

Jackson Browne gave us a wonderful show in Austin, TX on May 17 at the new ACL Moody Theater. Just JB in front of a row of guitars, alternating between the six strings and a keyboard. Just wonderful! And in response to some unstated question, he said, "I'm OK." Great to hear.

Love both versions.. for different reasons. Writing this in 2020 after listening to a recent colab with Jackson Browne on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert .. he's still got it in 2020 ... still .. " the bees knees" as far as I'm concerned .. I was wanting to listen to more so here I am.. listening .. traveling happily down memory lane... to the sound of the Great.. the one and only Jackson Browne !

Naturally, it's HIS song, it's brilliant & I take nothing away from his version, but if an artist has EVER imbued a song with more earthy sincerity than Glen Campbell brought to this one, shortly before he was plagued with dementia? I'd give anything to hear it. I was deeply moved at the way G.C. in a world-weary but compassionate way SOMEHOW made this gorgeous musical poem even MORE profound! He sounded like a man after Robert Frost's heart, one who had a lover's quarrel with life. If you get a chance? It's haunting.. Thanks for your time.

To then learn that he wrote it at age 16 simply blew my mind. Of course Jackson does it so much better than Tom could ever approach. “These day I sit on cornerstones and count the time in quarter tones”...Awesome.

@@ajfletcher8350 And another Tom Rush fan. I learned to play this song from Tom Rush's version; I had never heard of Jackson Browne at that point. Browne's version with his band was faster and seemed less reflective than the lyrics demanded. This version, all by himself, is much better. But, Tom Rush's version will always be my favorite. JB knew more about love and life at the age of 16 than most people ever do. "Don't confront me about my failures...I haven't forgotten them."

The legendary man himself is playing Victoria, BC tonight and I have a pair of front row tickets. Won't be there. My 17-year-old son is a musician, he and his band have a gig tonight. Much as I love JB, I love my son more and will be there, front and center, cheering him on. I'm sure Mr. Brown will both understand and approve. To those of you going to the show, either one, have a great time. Live music rules.

A really strong audience recording from 2009. I listen to tons of Jackson, multi-cam soundboard stuff, etc...but this is so raw and vibrant, I think I like it best of all.

Timeless.....I can't believe that a 16 year old would have that much insight to life. Except, that is, if it were Jackson ♥

@@davedawave4705 Alright, so if you did a street interview, you’re saying most people would effusively praise Jackson? Okay boomer

Arguably in a class by himself as a singer songwriter. cant think of anyone of any age who has written a more personal, powerful piece than this. Plaintive, yet so deep. And at 16. Wow. Gives me goosebumps. Wow squared.
