Jackie Kennedy's Tragic Real-Life Story

Ойын-сауық

She only lived in the White House for a few years, but Jacqueline Kennedy is remembered as one of the greatest first ladies in American history. As the ‘50s gave way to the ‘60s, America welcomed a new presidential couple, and they were young, good-looking, and hopeful about the future of America. Sadly, Jackie soon became the face of a grieving nation when John F. Kennedy was assassinated in November of 1963. That’s the tragedy she will forever be associated with, but she faced all kinds of hardships over the course of her life. So, let’s take a look at the tragic real-life story of Jackie Kennedy.

@Brandon McKinley You’re probably right. However, I’m close to Caroline’s age and grew up reading about her and JFK Jr.; you may have no notion how widespread and socially accepted smoking, even during pregnancy, was back then. I grew up in a fug of smoke, as my mom went through four packs a day, and my dad smoked, too. Unlike JFK Jr., I was born three weeks overdue-doctors don’t allow that any more-at not quite six pounds, wizened, and losing weight. Yet our family doctor never told my parents to quit: he chain-smoked too! Jackie was rueful about contracting lymphoma in her early sixties, after her decades of strict diet and exercise. Yet she never publicly blamed the butts.

Jackie Kennedy was my role model growing up. I had a pretty rough life growing up first in Detroit and then Inkster, in Mi. And when JFK was killed my class wrote a letter to her offering her our sympathies. It was then I felt she had to be tough to deal with the rumors of her husband's cheating, criticism, and she faced being a single parent now protecting her children, and has to be emotionally strong. I have survived because I too had to be tough to get where I am now. It's just really enjoying my quiet time now and its much slower and I'm usually smiling. Peace to you all! ☮

“An immensely private person, she somehow ended up marrying a man who loved the spotlight and was determined to become president...” Not true. When she started dated him he was already a well known Congressman-turned-Senator. His public prominence was one of the things that attracted her. It would be more accurate to say she felt conflicted about fame. She was drawn to it like a moth to flame but uncomfortable with the negative aspects. If Jackie wanted a private life she wouldn’t have married a man whose star was on the rise, and whose father had enormous ambition for him. Jackie was well aware of father Joseph’s ambition for his sons, as well as the fact that Joseph had firm ideas about the kind of wives they needed in order to fulfill their political ambitions. Joseph saw Jackie as an asset to JFK’s career, a fact she was well aware of when they dated.

These tragedies had a spiritual undertone steming from the Kennedy progenitor, Joseph P. Kennedy Snr, whom I learned did some shady things that brought a curse on his lineage. Unfortunately, Jackie shared in it all, bcos she was married into a cursed family. Except they embrace Christ as their Savior and their Lord and break it, the curse will continue to run through the descendants until the end of the age. I pray that Christ will encounter somebody among them so that he (or she) will stand in the gap in prayer to deliver that lineage.

You seem to forget that we as a nation can thank Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis for saving Grand Central Terminal in New York City. On June 26th, 1978, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a momentous decision that wouldn’t just save a cherished New York landmark, it would establish the NYC Landmarks Law for years to come. It's worth remembering that the landmark was almost destroyed by an office tower redevelopment project in 1975 when an unlikely savior - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis - stepped up to the microphone to save the Beaux-Arts building. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis also cared about historic preservation, having restored the White House to its former glory and saved Washington’s Lafayette Square from being replaced by ugly government office buildings in the early 1960s.

Escaped from her Kennedy clan soon after her husband's birth married a billionaire and made the best of her " married" life. A tragic life is one when you are born and live a life of poverty and starvation, not able to fulfil your dreams, watch your children die hopelessly and die having lived a life of nothingness. I’m surprised Grunge doesn’t know why Jackie married Onassis. It wasn’t because she wanted to live lavishly - how ridiculous. Your report had just said after RFK’s assassination that Jackie feared for her children, because “they’re killing Kennedy’s over here (US). That’s a clue - a big one. Onassis didn’t live in the US - even owned a private island - and could keep her children far away from the States.

Yep, she had what would today be recognised as PTSD, and was frightened for the lives of her children. Onassis was able to offer her an island getaway with all the security money could buy, and also offered her a shoulder to cry on. (Don't forget, she had previously holidayed on his yacht at his invitation, to help her get over her grief at baby Patrick's death. So I suspect she had come to see him as a comforting figure in her life when tragedy struck.) He needed a trophy wife, she needed to feel safe again. It's fair to say they both lived up to their sides of the bargain.
