Jack the Trucker

Inspired by the song "Jack the Trucker" this film originates in Waco Texas and takes place on a trip going all the way to Ohio. This trucker always searches for unique and interesting things along the way to show the viewer how a trucker lives OVER THE ROAD!

Regarding over night parking, I always prefer to play it safe and park where I know I can, instead of risking it. Although it is ideal to ask the customer if parking is possible nearby, often I had spent the night right in front of the gate, to ensure and early (un)load and get back on the road asap. With my current intermodal job here in Spain (Europe) though I am lucky enough to be home almost every night.

Jack is correct: Union City, TN, is a ghost town. I live 20 miles away. Fine if all you want to buy is a car or a burger. Otherwise, it's a disaster area. One of the reasons for this was the closure of the Goodyear tire plant in 2011, shedding 1800 jobs. The plant has since been bought by a specialist tire manufacturer, but most of the jobs have not been replaced. It's what happens when a town depends on a single industry for its survival - and is mismanaged by incompetent politicians.

Wise choice in the stopping short! Why risk a violation? My trucking days were 2-3 paper log books, and seldom running out of hours. How I wish I would've been Blessed with ability to run legally. Not bragging, but it was a day of 'outlaw trucking', with sometimes days and nights with no sleep, and people back in the office who never wanted to hear any excuses. I think if I could have trucked 'legally', I would have never left it. I miss trucking alot.

Believe it or not the longer the trailer the easy it is. I'm a retired truck driver from UK, using 20 30 and 40 ft trailers 240 foot so much easier to reverse then the 20 ad 30. Hard to believe but it's a fact.

Jack, I have stopped up to two hours short just to make sure I had a safe place to park. Here on the east coast, especially, if you try to drive your clock out, you risk (as you mentioned) going into violation if the truckstops or rest areas are full. Personally, I will not sleep on a get on ramp unless it's an absolute emergency.

the noise is under your seat oil or tighten it. I drove your brand of trk in 2005 that was 3 yrs old the leaf springs of the front would make a crunchy noise, new bushing couldn't be pressed in so they replace both leaf springs. I was told if they didn't replace then the spring leaf would break.

The wife and I have over nighted with the rv for a number of years at the Wal-Mart in Woodland, Oregon up Untill four years ago when two people came around and informed all the rv's and semi's that we were no longer allowed to stay the night. Now,, no Wal-Marts allow overnight parking. We stay at Casinos now and one Casino in Washington State ( exit 16) used to allow semi's to park there up Untill late 2022 when I heard some rv folks grumbled and gripped because those trucks made too much noise at night. But,,, there are still some casinos that still let them semi folks park in their parking lots. So,, all is not lost.

I compressed the lyric put it into the story, added some music vehicle to it. Then took it in the studio, added some trucker magic ( I hoped) and recorded it. It was a fun collaboration, Hope to do that again on Sound cloud. Hope you hear the new "Old Red" tune. Before I do a final release I just posted a remix for now. Its a insurance scam those cars were trying to get on you. I delt with this OTR on several different occasions. This is how it works.. 3 cars are used, first one blocks the passing lane, second one follows to cut in front of you, and the 3rd one is directly behind you. So when you slow down, like most truckers do...the car behind you rams your trailer just enough to damage their car. All the while video recording your driving. So on camera it looks like you were unable to maintain your speed which caused the car behind you to hit you. Trust me I delt with it in Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Ohio, and Arizona. All trucks should be equipped with backward facing cameras.
