Personally, I really enjoy the Jack Daniel’s Bonded. In my opinion, it’s more than just a higher proof version of Old No. 7. The standard 80 proof JD is fine for an entry level bourbon, but I think of it as a mixer in the same category as Jim Beam white label or Evan Williams black label. JD Bonded is so much more interesting on the nose, palate, and finish. For $30-35 for a 700 ml, depending on where you live, it’s a great bourbon that’s found a permanent spot in my regular rotation.

Trying the Bonded for the first time as I watch this, and holy cow it is smooth. I don't normally like to use that expression, but the Bonded Tenn. whiskey has no burn whatsoever. Not on the palate, not as it goes down, and none on the finish. I get all of the classic JD notes, and some oak on the finish, but this whiskey has no bite whatsoever. Just to make sure my taste buds and pain receptors aren't dead, I'm following it up with a 131.5 proof JD Barrel Proof, and the difference is night and day. The Barrel Proof burns on the tongue, burns in the finish, and has a completely different flavor profile. I would say that the Bonded is good for when you want an easy drinker, and the Barrel Proof is for when you want something that packs a punch.

Love that banana note and have enjoyed a few bottles of the JD Sinatra but, now that Sinatra is hitting shelves at $199 (a liter), this Bonded variant tastes almost the same as Sinatra... albeit a slightly higher proof and while lacking a bit of the super smoothness the Sinatra has. For me, an easy bottle to find at $30 is going to beat a very similar tasting bottle at $200 bucks, every time. Goodbye Frank, hello Bonded. (And yes, the JD single barrel is still a great one too)

I always have my #7 in the cabinet. When they came out with the bonded I bought a bottle took and poured the bonded in a half full bottle of #7. Perfect. Taste like the 1960s 90pf. Glad I saved a lot of # 7 1 liter bottles. I have 6 full bottles of this mixture in 1 ltr #7 bottles now. Jack heaven.

I never drank anything else in my life besides JD. Old no7 and Tennessee rye if strictly for jack and cokes. All the higher end jack is for neat and shots. Putting the 130 proof barrel select jack in cola should be a class A felony 😂

I bought the JD Bonded yesterday and have to say I'm absolutely a fan so far. I don't normally like Jack all that much, and it's not even like it doesn't taste like Jack at all. It's just that it tastes like a better version of Jack. And that alone makes it taste unique vs. other bourbons (let alone TN whiskeys), and why I plan to make it a long-term part of my bar. Cheers!

Thanks for the info. Have the OF 100 & never had the JD Bonded, but if they are similar, like you say, will stick to OF 100 at $42.99 for 1.75L. Why pay $34.99 for 700mL JD, even if it was $30? Do have a bottle of the JD Bonded Rye that is same price & bottle, but don't think I will get another. OF Rye is $26-28 for 1L. Almost all JD products are over-priced, except maybe some of the barrel proof stuff.

Here in NC where all the prices are state controlled, these bottles took a fairly big jump in price from May to June… they went from 30 and 33 to 36 and 40. I wish I had picked them up last month hahaha… but a few extra bucks won’t kill me. I grabbed the Triple Mash because it intrigued me the most. And i gotta say, it’s really good for 100 proof at 40 bucks. It does have the Brown Forman/JD banana note on the nose, but it isn’t as prominent as it is on the JDSBs, JD, and Gent Jack. The palate is super sweet up front… like vanillas, cotton candy, sweet tarts (without the sour), and bubble gum… but then the baking spices and peppermint kick in on the back of the palate and finish. I am shocked by how easy this is to drink because of how the sweet (almost perfume-y without being floral) notes and a finish that isn’t too long. There are some oak flavors present, but it’s mostly banana, vanilla, candy, and spice. I’d recommend the JD Triple Mash any day to anyone. Oh and Chad, for what it’s worth, I was like “why is he pouring the Triple Mash into the Bonded glass?” I hope you enjoyed that blend (of a blend hahaha) off screen.

Love how different and unique it tasted and totally agree with Sara that I would not have believed it was Jack. I think these would be great introductions to higher proof whiskeys and expanding your palate for Old No. 7 fans so if they want to bring more people into their SB, SBBP, special releases, etc., these are a super smart addition to their line-up.

Im to cool for Jack Daniels I dont like it but !LOL Basically the beginning of everyones first sentence commenting here . Crazy its only one of the best selling whiskey brands in the world year after ! Whiskey Snobs are just like Beer Snobs always hating on big brands. Always claiming small/micro brands are the Holy Grail / Unicorn Juice .

For us, we've found Jack Daniel's starts around the mid 90s proof and goes up. We've liked the 10 year, these two bottled-in-bonds, the single barrels, and the single barrel barrel proofs. There's obviously room for the 80 proof stuff because it sells the best of any American Whiskey, and that's great, whatever floats ya boat.

As if old No 7 wasn't glue-like enough, we proudly present Jack Daniels Bonded. Jim Beam is better than this industrial solvent.

I've just recently added these two to my wish list, with some trepidation since Jack black is definitely at the bottom end of drinkable bourbon. It's nice to know that my decision, based on things I've come across here and there, has potential. Of course whisky tasting is highly subjective, but it sounds like I might actively like these two...whenever I get to 'em. So much whisky, so little time... 🥲
