Jack Benny radio show 3/25/51 Sunset Boulevard

Комедия

An Easter show with plenty of holiday-related jokes, followed by a sketch based on the movie Sunset Boulevard. There's also an unusually topical mention of the gangster Frank Costello appearing before the Kefauver Senate committee.

Tallulah Bankhead was a famous actress of the 1940s and 1950s. She spoke with a deep husky voice ( she was a heavy smoker and drinker). She had one of the last of the big time variety shows on radio. " The Big Show " was a 90 minute show but it failed to compete against the onset of TV. It was on NBC from 1950 -51.

Indubitably ! And her father (William Bankhead) was a longtime U.S. Congressman from Alabama (even serving as Speaker of House for two years !).

Only.at that time in history. Ignorant or uniformed people had no idea that cigarettes were so deadly.
