    Man, I have to be honest: even tough I'm atheist, I love the way the newest generation of gospel guitar players are doing it. Thank you for sharing your musical wisdom! And JUST PLAY is one of the many ways of HOW TO PLAY. Praise the Lord for the rewind button!

    Rogério Lopes late reply but I'm with you on that. I'm incorporating some of this site into my Blues playing/writing. People are amazed when I tell them it's come from gospel music. Puts a jazzy spin on the old chugga chugga rhythms.

  • @darren581
    @darren5817 жыл бұрын

    Hey bruh, no doubt you can play! However, if this is supposed to be a "quartet lesson" then you should spend more time breaking down each lick for those of us who want to learn. Those licks are way to fast for most to be able to identify each note and get them without specific instruction. If that isn't your thing, then it was good to see you play. Take Care. D.

  • @Detman101

    These fools cant teach anyone anything. They come up just playing...they don't know any theory and aren't able to teach anyone anything they play. They just say "Watch me and learn" and play at a million notes per second so you're all "WOW" but can't learn anything from them. Best believe it's intentional. I played with a bunch of these dickheads in the COGIC church for years. It took me two negative experiences to peep their bs game...

    Sly Fox setting the speed lower doesn't tell the beginner which scale to use or which chord to use...

  • @AWesker99

    @AWesker99

    9 жыл бұрын

    Chris Robinson He says at the beginning that he's in Bb. I already explained what scales work and why. Do you know how I learned this? I slowed it down, picked it up one piece at a time, and practiced it over and over and over again until I got it right. Even if this dude held your hand and showed you note for note (which is what slowing it down does), you still have to work it out yourself. There is no other way. You seem to be using theory as an excuse for not paying your dues in the woodshed. For example, the little turnaround he does at 3:43 is 1-3-6-2-1. He uses Bb6/9, D7#9, Gmin9, Cmin7b5(rootless) and then back to Bb. The 6th intervals he's doing are still outlining the Bb major chord. Now would you rather think about all those chords or just play them and figure out why they work later? You're a beginner, so the most important thing you need to worry about is proper technique. Theory is important, but its useless if you can't apply it because of poor technique. Do you see how crisp and clean he is? If you're serious about guitar, I wouldn't bother doing anything else for the first 1-2 years. If you skip that step, you will most likely suck forever.
