J. Krishnamurti - 1989 Documentary - Krishnamurti: With a silent mind

1989 - Krishnamurti: With a silent mind
Summary:
This documentary is based on a series of interviews with people around the world who had contact with Krishnamurti. These interviews are remarkable in conveying his impact.
The film also includes historical footage of Krishnamurti's early years, culminating in his break in 1929 with the organisation that had fostered him, and excerpts from later talks.
---
This channel is managed by the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust, UK, and by the Krishnamurti Foundation of America.
The role of the foundations was described by Krishnamurti when he said, 'The foundations will see to it that these teachings are kept whole, are not distorted, are not made corrupt. They will not give rise to any sectarian spirit in their activities... nor create any kind of place of worship around the teachings or the person.'
We maintain extensive archives of Krishnamurti's original works and all four Krishnamurti foundations are actively engaged in the publication of material in various forms.
Our videos contain thousands of subtitles in more than 25 languages, translated by volunteers from all over the world. If you would like to help us with translating subtitles, please contact us at digital@kfoundation.org

Krishnamurti's message is so radical, yet important for today's world. Has he apparently said himself, it seems no one really understood his message as he was alive. Let's hope future generations will be more wise.

At 1:14:02 when he is sharing his ideas. It made me cry because he was so passionate & it was if he knows this feeling or this gift or enlightenment if this Truth that he found on his own by questioning everything himself and following his own path or Truth and you see his openness to share this & for people to understand it’s like it’s exploding inside him. After a long time I am coming back to listening to him again such an Amazing Human Being.

He was a brave man to have not accepted any one guidance even those who had found him like Annie Besant, Leadbeater, he hacked out his own path and stuck to it ,no teachers for him ,he himself was the world leader now,he gave hope, love, and unconditional perception which had no conflict.

I get JK clearly, we are a production of thought, a bundle of memories along with being mechanically driven by 1000's of years of conditioning, so the mind itself, so old, can't do anything unless it is rendered lost, then when the mind loses its grip a new energy emerges, and from that you act.

haha, that is still the mind though! I know what you mean; but the False must be Eschewed Completely! In think it is just a matter of just-being-really-honest with ourselves. We have this naughty, self-deceptive monkey in us. We have to deal with that appropriately and not be deceived by this part of our nature (I am not putting it down, it needs looking after, but is not a help whatsoever for truth or what Is Ultimate, beyond and beneath all this!)

@@juliangiulio3147 Thoth or thought or taught is an old friend of mine. He is the inventor of words and spells. Vicarious learning as opposed to our natural empathy. Empathy is the source of all wisdom. We utilize Thoth to write these responses. But there is no love in Thoth. Now perhaps transformed into Lucifer. Thoth cannot storm the gates of heaven or the heart. Thoth was often pictured by Egyptians as a baboon. This is instructive. The power of Isis is grace. I recommend She can release us from the chains of Thoth. Who must be banished for the sake of sleep or rest. May we all find solace and gratitude in the balance. This my own visceral response to your lucid post.

I love the beginning of the film with the clouds and the sound of the wind and an example of K's poetic observations (read his books). That is the epitome of K's teaching - listening (as in aware) with a silent mind. When everybody starts talking, thinking, explaining and putting foward their own ideas etc etc etc...... it all becomes a jumbled racket of a noise and the magic is lost !

There is only one way to understand K and that is once you do meditation for an hour or so everyday for couple of years. When you close your eyes and start seeing your being, your thought stops and you become thoughtless and that's when you see the joy of life. If you die without feeling this joy of life you have failed yourself. It doesn't matter of much matter you have collected, you will still be a failure. If you could see that joy of life before dying, you have got everything this life can offer to you. It doesn't matter how much matter you have collected. This joy of life is different and you can't compare it with pleasure produced by thought, with pleasure you get pain for free. But this joy of life is spontaneous and will stay with you for ever. You will have this joy of life, when you don't have your ego, when you make you ego disappear by closing your eyes and looking at it. Thank you!

I find it curious that though K always maintained that truth was a pathless land and there was no process or system to find truth, he always maintained that we must look at ourselves and see it all in an instant (which, to me, is a process in itself). He often spoke against sitting quietly and meditating as a way to find freedom, and yet he did meditate much of his young life (according to friends interviewed in this film). I think his life shows there is a process, at least up until the time something greater comes into being (the ending of the 'me'). Ultimately, to learn, one must look at oneself and not what a 'world teacher' might say that has not the 'complete relevance' to all people at a given time and development in their lives. He uses thought to explain away thought and that is a slippery slope. He builds with the bricks of thought, all the while espousing the problem with our thoughts. I realize there is no other way, but I do think it can be and is confusing to most. It might be that K was a freak of nature (something he called himself as a young man) and he may have had a transformation that really was a miracle and not something so readily available to every human as he claimed for nearly 60 years. All that written, there is nothing greater that man needs than to be free from his inner conflicts. Getting there might be more wide and varied than ever spoken about by even K.

David Bohm had always to explain to him, because he could not understand. This is meaningful,it shows that people who have already acquired many screens and filters cannot really understand.

I have found great healing and curiosity in J. K's words and silence - and have tried to recommend both videos and books to others, to no avail. How would you introduce him to others, as simple and short as possible? Perhabs I should try smiling more?

An enlightened being knows the human society is a hierarchical one. Enlightened ones are everything possible, but they're not naive or idealists. But.. he surely was an interesting person. I see him as the product of Annie Bessant's desire for giving world a Messiah.. I am open to suggestions, if you have relevant information regarding Krishnamurti, please do not hesitate and give them to me. I would like to form my own objective opinion on his persona.

Food for thought: If you seek an opinion you've missed the point of his message entirely.
