    As a Venezuelan who had to leave my country due to the extreme social and political instability, I have no words to describe my gratitude for having done some digging into our very complex issue and raising awareness among the international community of what we are going through. The information presented today is highly accurate and very complete, and it mesmerizes how someone from outside could get it so well, as I always have trouble explaining other people what's happening there as our reality other there it's so fucked up that it sounds like fantasy or fiction to a lot of folks in the first world. Again, thanks a lot for taking your time on this and please, keep helping us on spreading the word and expose the Venezuelan tyranny to the world.

    it is sad that a majority of the world supports Maduro delegitimizing the opposition party, removing them from power, and very possibly executing them for treason, just because Maduro is a socialist. If he were anything but a socialist, the entire world would be up in arms against him murdering innocent people and undoing Venezuela's democratic political system.

    I was born in Venezuela but I moved to the U.S. at an early age and even though my mom and my step-dad watch Venezuelan news 24/7 and I kind of knew about the situation, I had no idea it was actually THIS insane. Phil opened my eyes and now I guess I'll have to be joining my parents in watching the news because most of my family is still living there. I appreciate all the research you did for that segment of your video because it even informed someone who was born in that country but was too ignorant to know anything about it.

    gabethememegod I just left the the country a month ago, I'm currently living in Argentina. You're very, very lucky you never had to endure what living there was. I got so, so used to seeing murder, lack of human rights and medical treatmeant in the place I grew up in. I hated it. I must have lost more than 6 pounds as the years progressed. We had so little to eat that my stomach adapted, and when I got hungry it eventually subsided and stopped bothering me, even if that meant I only ate one really small portion of food. Thankfully I escaped. The rest of my family and friends, though, not so much.

    Thank you for talking about Venezuela, Phil. I have a co-worker friend who left his friends and family in Venezuela two years ago because of the violence - he was a lawyer there and it became too dangerous for him to stay. He talks to me every day about his home country, how much he loves it and how sad he is because of the violence and brokenness. He is one of the kindest people I know. I hope conditions in Venezuela improve... and that Maduro is held accountable.

    wtfblonde You are clearly missing the point. Millions of Venezuelans have fled the country due to the extremely low life conditions, the abnormally high prices for even the most basic things and a lot of times the lack thereof , given the fact that there's no food, no medicine, no water, no electricity, no security and so on and so forth. It is truly no place to live.

The answer to that question is pointless. What matters is all those things DID happen to the citizens of Venezuela. And they DO have a choice... they can starve to death OR they can revolt !! I say REVOLT !! Or are you telling Ms. Valentina she should starve to death ? Or are you saying you would allow yourself and your family to starve to death ? So whats your great advice to her??? HUH ??? "golly jeez that's sux... you should move ... leave your home, your possesions, everything you've ever worked for, leave your country and allow some dictator to take over"??? Would you revolt? Probably......

    Hola! 🇨🇷

    Charlie Murr well, to be fair it kind of depends on what the in game currency is. When EverQuest was relatively new and incredibly popular, before World of Warcraft even came out, one platinum piece was worth more than many international currencies. It's been too long to recall well, but I believe when it first began being sold, EQ plat was stronger than the Japanese Yen for that matter.

  • @ErixTheRed

    @ErixTheRed

    Charlie Murr, Unfortunately that's not how exchange rates work. Direct comparison of the rate doesn't tell you anything useful about the economy. The trend of that rate (which Philly covers) does. For example, the GBP is worth more than the USD that doesn't mean their economy is better. In fact, the rate has gone from 1.6 to 1.3 in the last few years. That's suggests a stronger US economy.

    Being a college student and watching most of the athletes I've had in classes never show up and piss away their free education. I don't feel sorry for the rules even though they are very harsh because, at some schools that scholarship is equivalent to more than the average income of families in the area. These athletes get school for free in exchange for playing a game they like to play. Most students would kill for that, I know I would. He was also given a really good offer from the NCAA to keep playing and have his KZread channel but he didn't accept it. It's his fault that his scholarship is gone now.

So given the waiver, I don't feel bad that he decided against playing, it was his choice. He was offered a simple resolution, where he could play football, make videos, and make money off his videos. He decided against it. The fact he thinks the public should now donate, and pay for his tuition, is sad. You had your tuition paid for, and you decided you didn't want that, so now we should pay your tuition? I'd rather donate to the tuition of somebody that didn't throw away a full ride scholarship.

    THANK YOU De Franco, I'm from Venezuela, and I've seen a lot of coverage over our situation and NON OF THEM GET IT RIGHT, it's frustrating! and it does us harm! The way you covered the "election" saying that it was illegal because there wasn't a referendum for it, and explaining how the voting works and that it is gerrymandered as hell... NO ONE has explained it like you have, or at all...(pathetic). SO GOOD JOB, AND THANK YOU. I just want to make a few clarifications, people tend to give Chavez a pass, or even put him on a pedestal because of his work with social programs. So I want to point a few things out, because Chavez is the cause of what we are living today. 1) Chavez started arming civilian groups, called Circulos Bolivarianos (that today terrorize low income communities mostly). And when there were elections or opposition protests, they would be there to kill or instill fear in the people. 2) Before Chavez there were a LOT of social programs, he just destroyed them to help himself and his corrupt government, but after he started loosing popularity and the election was coming up, he "created" new social programs (that are nests of corruption) and marketed the hell out of them (they are really effing good at that, marketing and propaganda) 3) Before Chavez, president Caldera (he was not good for Venezuela, but was at least democratic), the government would build around 250k social interest homesm yearly. Chavez did no such thing until he needed a popularity boost, so he created another social program and started building (way less) homes (more marketing), in 2011 I think (Gran Mision Vivienda Venezuela). Also, he didn't build all of them, he painted some, he stole some, he built some.... 4) Maduro didn't actually win his first election, not really. He got the votes, if you checked the ballots vs the signatures, you would get that number. BUT, there as HUGE pressure on social programs users, government workers to vote for him (there are multiple videos of this). And, they nationalized Chinese people, Cubans etc. dead people voted... and so on and so forth. AND ALSO, they didn't let the opposition audit the voting registry (as required by law). If they had let the opposition take a look at the ballots and the signatures/ids/names, you would have seen the cheating. 5) Chavez started nationalizing any private company that stood against him. After Chavez stole them, the companies would collapse due to mismanagement. When Maduro came into power, there were barely any left. Chavez could take that hit because oil prices were high, but Maduro can't because oil prices dropped. So yeah, Chavez started the economic collapse by making us almost 100% oil reliant. But still, other than not being harsh enough on Chavez and not explaining a little bit more about the armed groups and the Maduro first elections, you did a great job. WE VENEZUELANS APPRECIATE IT! we really do. It's not often we see a news youtuber do a good job about our situation. Look at TYT cover of Venezuela, it was pathetic. THANK YOU PHILLIP.

    I am glad to see that you are finally talking about my country and the horrible situation that the people are living in there. I was forced to leave Venezuela 5 years ago in search of a place where I could have a live, a family and build a future, it has not been easy, but the hardest part is seeing how my people, my friends and family suffer at the hands of dictatorship and corruption every day, and the little I can do to help them. Even back in 2012 the situation was bad, it was dangerous to live there because of delinquency and corruption, horror stories about the military and the police being involved in kidnapping and murder were already common. there was no respect for private property and your safety was never guaranteed. Getting home to your family was never certain. But now, things have gotten so out of hand, and so much worse, starvation, death, poverty, repression... such a rich and beautiful country ruined and the people are almost powerless because the military, the power that is meant to protect the people, to defend them, is serving the government who has bought their loyalty... I pray everyday that things will get better, that Venezuela will be able to get rid of the filth that has caused so much pain to its people and forced so many out of the country they love. We need more people lie Phil to bring the truth about what is happening in venezuela to the world, so they can see the horror that human beings are living there everyday. No one should have to go through that situation, no one should have to die or be forced away from their loved ones or imprisoned.

    TLDR: Maduro = Bad, but Chavez also = Bad Read if you want to understand how Venezuela is now in this situation. Good to see that you are education the world about the situation in Venezuela, but let us not paint Chavez as a successful or benevolent president. History needs to know what he was, just another populist trying to sell the poor a future he never delivered. They liked him because he was charismatic and because they hoped he would make things better for them. But he was clear from the beginning that he would do it at the expense of the high and the middle class. He portrayed money as evil and took the first steps to dismantling private property and entrepreneurship. And the people loved him because they thought he was Robin Hood. Taking money from what he called the evil bourgeoisie and giving it to the uneducated poor, who's greatest desire in life was having a home they could call their own. But unbeknownst to them is that he and his cronies just pocketed most of the money he promised them. The thing about Chavez is that he knew how to market himself, he was great at keeping his image, and he was always on brand. But a big part of the international community does not know the truth about him for two things: First, things hadn't yet crumbled for him because he still had very expensive oil to profit from and because he was very skilled at keeping the mobsters of his government mafia from getting too greedy and destroying the economy even quicker just for the sake of an easy buck. Second, he created a lot of "positive" relationships with other foreign countries by providing them with trillions of dollars worth of free oil. Many just sucked up to Chavez because they knew if they did that the fool would reward them with tons of money. But don't be confused, Chavez is the originator of Venezuela's downfall. He just died too soon to see it through. And his hand picked successor (Maduro) was somehow even more corrupt and incompetent than him, which just accelerated the whole process exponentially.

    I am a division 1 student athlete on scholarship at my university, and I do not believe that we should get paid for our athletic performance. I believe that we are not at universities to play sports, but are there to get an education. The scholarships we receive from the sports are simply one way to pay for that education. We are already given the very best medical care at our athletic training facilities, given priority access to tutors and counselors, and are given early access when signing up for classes or choosing rooms, in addition to thousands of dollars per year in scholarship. In addition, most of the major players in college sports that would be compensated with millions of dollars should we choose to pay amateur athletes, will end up playing in professional leagues and making that money regardless. In order to get the scholarship that I now receive, I have trained nearly every day for several hours a day working as hard as I possibly could, and I achieved my goals. When a student pursuing a degree in aerospace engineering wants to get a scholarship to a prestigious university, they do the same thing: they study hard for hours every day, and do their absolute best to achieve the test scores, GPA , and everything else they need to get that scholarship. Yet they will not get paid for their hard work outside of scholarships, so why should we?The case in the video is a little different, as the athlete was not getting paid by the university but by an outside revenue source having to do with his athletic ability. I see this akin to that same engineering student getting a paid internship in the summer; getting paid by an outside source for skills that they have used and honed at their university. This I would support; its the reason I cannot coach high school teams or anything like that while on summer break, which I find ridiculous. I would like to end this by saying that I may be a but biased, as I am not in a "superstar" sport like football or basketball but am instead in the relatively unknown sport of rowing,where although I am pursuing Olympic aspirations, USRowing cannot afford to pay its athletes living wages and sponsors generally do not pick up little known athletes like rowers.

I also have been a active person, from playing football, basketball, and baseball. I have tried many ways to lose weight, from exercising, pills, diet powders, and even starving which I don't condone. Gastric bypass surgery was my last resort and Does not mean you're lazy to try and lose weight. Fast forward today, I have lost over 300lbs with diet and exercise and I think in my case it helped me. But remember everyone is different. I'm now a healthy weight and comfortable in my skin. I never had a low self a steam even though I was bullied when I was younger. Everyone is different. I just want to say, thank you so much for talking about what Venezuela is going through. It's disheartening when this news is occurring and I rarely see it mentioned by the media. Venezuela was once one of the richest countries in South America, with a lot to offer and with people that were united regardless of social class. To see it be so quickly and quietly succumbed to starvation breaks my heart.

Whether or not you agree with how the NCAA is doing business, you gotta be living in a fantasy land to have an option as clear as this and back out of it. That's going to be a hard reality to face when he stops getting donations and realizes his KZread likely can't support a college tuition.

    Let's not forget young people's lord and savior Bernie Sanders routinely used Venezuela as some shining beacon, the epitome of his policy. Let's look at them today, after Venezuelans had their guns banned and made into a socialist state of pure happiness, now getting gunned down in the streets by armed supporters of the current president, unable to defend themselves. I, too, look forward to killing our own zoo exhibits just to eat. Yes, Bernie can still win. Recently I've heard more about one way for people to get food is when they're voting they make an agreement to vote for one person and in return they get food for their family. It's truly heartbreaking. He puts his people in a terrible situation just to thrive himself. So fuck him. This is not how we're supposed to treat other human beings. We're supposed to love and care for them, not treat them like toys that we manipulate for our own gain.

My uncle was gunned down by the government this last march, it sucks, but thats what happens of your not a supporter of the red. The only choice now honestly is to fight. Venezuelans fought and slaughtered the Spanish for our freedom. Now we need to see this tyrant strung up with a knife in his heart before we can see freedom in our country again. I understand why the NCAA has policies like that. The policy is in place to keep the players from capitalizing on their fame as players, but at the same time... why do you need a policy like that to begin with? If anything, LET the players capitalize on their fame. If it gets in the way of their playership, kick em. If it doesn't, they get a little extra green to fall back on (which will promptly disappear because most players file for bankruptcy several years after retirement), and if there's EVER a conflict of interest, give them an ultimatum and let it play out from there. Business is just business no matter how you look at it.

  • @Bnasty295

    @Bnasty295

    cooldude56g i understand your point but you need to remember that each college is putting in thousands of dollars into each player so that they will stay healthy and play for them so that way the college and the NCAA can both earn their money. If they just decide to kick them then they will loose all that money that they put into them and as more players make channels they can end up with future lawsuits. The hole point for all of those rules is so that the NCAA and the colleges don't loose money and players because of other fame, fortune or any bad things that come with both of those things

Your telling of our history is accurate, but is also so much more. 4 years ago when I was 17 I started to participate in the protests. And it's like a war whit only one armed side... People it's taken, put in prison, humiliated and often times rape or kill. Antonio Ledezma and Leopoldo Lopez are the taken leaders you talked about. They are unjustly imprisoned This is a dictatorship and we really need more international visibility. I understand a ton of KZreadrs get bank off of making this their career but this is such an unreliable source of income. Hell even if he was making a ton of money, there's no way that would be an excuse to just pass up a scholarship. He was probably frustrated with the NCAA, which I don't blame him for. They have abused their student athletes for years, practically stripping them of all the merchandising rights but refusing to give them any benefits such as health insurance by designating them "students", not "employees". As far as I'm concerned, if those players are making money for the NCAA, they are employees and should get the benefits that come with it, especially when that money is in the billions. It can only really be described as a total scam.

    Goose Boose The NCAA rules are overly controlling until you take into account the waivers. Then they are logical and fair. This guy decided to fall on a sword that only he knows exists, and not use the loopholes within the waiver to continue to use the fact he plays college football to possibly grow his channel. In conclusion; he's an idiot. That said, if people want to donate money for his schooling I have no issue with that. I personally would tell my kid to look into a well paying technical career where he or she would be making six figures by the time his friends graduate college in debt, but whatever.
