Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZread, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZread. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZread, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

I had already heard "Crazy Mama" on the radio, so I knew who J.J. Cale was, but when I heard Magnolia, I went out and bought the album, and found out how many other great songs he had recorded.

Great musicians and songwriters love JJ Cale nearly universally. It doesn't get much better than that. The king of laidback stoner country blues music. RIP JJ

J.J. was playing guitar (famous for his finger-picking style). It was almost a lovesong lullaby for his lady. Thank you so very much, Shawn. I appreciate you playing some J.J. Cale. Your channel is a diamond crossed with a pearl-no one plays the diversity and music you so often do. T nks again from all of us who appreciate all you do.

I first saw JJ on a snowy night in January of '77 at a place called PB Scotts in Blowing Rock, NC. Great 3 hour set in support of his Troubadour album. Great show, then we came out to 6 inches of fresh snow. JJ had the smoothest hand on a fret board I ever saw. Effortless. Look for the Paradise Studio (Leon's basement lol) sessions from '79. Got to see him 3 more times over the years. RIP JJ, and Thank You!

Aside from his songwriting capabilities Cale was also a highly underrated very excellent guitarist.

Yes. JJ is the best. BTW, Poco covered this track “Magnolia” very nicely, but there was nobody like JJ Cale. My wife & I saw JJ play a couple of times. Both were small crowds, living room type performances. At one, a voice in the crowd yelled out “Turn up the vocals!” “Turn up the mic!” JJ just leaned back and said calmly, “naw, thats how I like it.” He was the best, and he made it all seem easy. No show-boating, just easy perfect Tulsa blues, his way. “Sensitive Kind” and “Closer to You” are a couple tracks I recommend, though the JJ originals of Clapton covers “After Midnight” and “Cocaine” are also interesting. Oh, one other I loved to sing and play is “Homeless”. Such a sweet song.

Congrats Shawn! No one reacts to JJ Cale. Everyone hits the famous covers by Skynyrd or Clapton or others. IMHO, JJ's originals are far superior. Check out his live in studio performance with Leon Russell who you reacted to earlier. Link below to After Midnight kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZKaY1bFuks7XdNo.htmlsi=3EV5K6uPrjHFzRti

I got to see him in concert in Vancouver; on stage he's just as laid back, he's was amazing in concert. You could see it in some of Eric Clapton's Crossroads videos how laid back he is, but has a way of focusing your attention. Leon Russell is seen in a long KZread video of JJ Cale's studio music video. You might find "Bringing It Back" by JJ Cale pretty solid.

I'm so pleased you are doing some JJ Cale!! I always have had this album since the 70s, first on vinyl and later on CD. His albums all sound great - I heard Eric Clapton went to see him to find out how he did the production to get that sound. JJ played guitar on most tracks but he always found great musicians to play the other instruments as needed. Another great track on this album is "After Midnight" the first track is "Call me the Breeze" and a more up tempo number is "Bringing it Back from Mexico". Every track is good though. The second album "Really" is also very good.

If you like this song Shawn there are no end of JJ Cale tunes you will like. There is a reason so many of rock's greatest turned to him over and over again for inspiration. Eric Clapton has stated that if there was any other guitarist he would want to be, it was JJ Cale. That is how loved he was. I remember when he died in 2013 it really upset me, I loved his music so much. A heart attack took him away from us. 😢😟

A similarly mellow tune of his is "Mona." For a full flavor of his tunes and range, watch the "Homewood Sessions" that he did with Leon Russell...

NIce reaction. Now that you have done both JJ Cale and Leon Russell you should combine them. Corine Corina or Roll on/No Sweat from The Paradise Studio in 1979 would be a great place to start.

JJ wrote a great song. But I prefer POCO's '73 cover for 2 reasons First off Paul Cotton's soulful vocal, and Poco's harmonies. And the other reason is that this is off Crazy Eyes, Poco's tribute to Gram Parsons. Gram is another legend you need to check out, esp his Grievous Angel duets with Emmylou....
