J Costa VS Stock Varitors on 2006 Suzuki Burgman 400 | MicBergsma

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

My friend Jason installed J Costa on his 2006 suzuki burgman/skywave 400cc. We went out to race to see how fast he can get away from me on my vespa gts 250cc with his stock rollers and then with J Costa. If I install J Costa on my vespa I could keep up with him for a while.

i have a 150 scooter but i'm sure all the tk variators are the same. i'm trying to figure out if this will be good for me as i ride it back and forth to work to save gas, but around here i still need the acceleration. did or do you get better fuel mileage with this variator installed, or was it the same or worse?

So it's just like Dr Pulley sliders with the stock variator? Seems to be the cheaper way to do the same thing, unless the jcosta does something else. I've put DrPulleys in my scoot and it works as advertised.

@davenix1955 sliders and jcosta don't work together... you can use jcosta or sliders in the variator

Hello, do you have any videos on carb removal/cleaning on the Burgman 400? My Burgman stopped from running. It was my daily ride. One morning i tried to start it. It started for a second and it died. Nothing since then. I sprayed an engine starter through the throttle body but it didn't do anything. Where and what should i be diagnosing? Your videos are quite helpful. Thanks a lot!

nope. After 10 000 to 15 000 is not more good variator. The bullets have worn the metal part and then the variator is not the same. I will stick to malossi.

J Costa variators and replacement weights are stocked by Scootertronics, I have taken the time to stock in the US the most sought after in the uS now I might not have them all but that does not mean I will not get what you need, I simply installed these J Costa variators in maxie scoots and others and was surprised at the performance I did this in 2006, so let me know I will hook you up

@Oymeit I am the one that owns the scooter in the video. The jcosta variator will cause you to run higher rpms at lower speeds and the same rpms at high speed compared to stock. It will give you slightly faster acceleration at full throttle. that's what my friend said.

Thats not good. Lol. U just reverse sold me. Lower rpms is better. So ur loosing mpg with this setup. Polini or malossi got this sale.

@micbergsma This is my bike in the video. I have opened up the case to look at the pins and they do have a slight bit of wear on them. I expected that and I think it is normal. they should last a long time. It is too early to tell, but I think they will probably give me 20,000 miles or so before I will have to replace the pins. Next time I have it off I will get micbergsma to take a video to show the wear.

I have an 09 abs AN 400 burger and I think you really cannot go past the 19g sliders in the variator..I fitted a new variator as the old one was too worn (38300kms) new belt and DrPulley sliders 19g..just gobsmacked by the usability of it ..can easily sitvon 150 km/h and turn out 6000 rpm..where prior with worn belt and shagged variator ..it was 100km/hr at 6300 rpm..highly recommend
