Honestly i’ve been waiting for inspiration out of fear of not writing as good as i used too and i finally found my sound but not i’ve gotta relearn it and try too start all over from scratch but shit i hope soon i can write more and more and after watching this i might just test myself by writing a song everyday or even try too dedicate more time too it and shit like he said the only reason I haven’t written in a while is because I’m afraid of repeating a line of what i said in the past due too how many songs i have written and completed but I can’t lie the shit stresses me out because i have a lot planned for when it comes too music and currently I’m trying too work on a ep made of songs that all have the same vibe theme and feeling but shit i need too write some more because I’m not tryna wait anymore if nothing is gonna come too me and i know there ain’t much too write about since i’ve already expressed much of what i wanted too it songs i made prior but shit I’m hoping writing everyday will help me out a little bit more because i used too be able too make song after songs from different genres too themes and now i just can’t but who knows maybe this will help me improve lyrically so I’m gonna test myself and see what happens wish me luck

@@jordanjohnson6402 one that's type dirty, get yourself a plumber to check that out and two I know it was just an analogy. But to the og comment, figure out techniques for writing that work for you. Yes you can use techniques other say but you will see what works best for you as you write more. So write more. I can share some techniques I have for myself that work for me. I may not be trying to write but I hear a song playing on spotify. When I start flowing to it as if Im featured on the song, I start writing to it. I get inspired. These bars may not even have anything to do with the song's message. I just write. These bars may be used for a new song. Other times, I write random bars that come to me. Nothing crazy like 2 or 4 bars. Overtime, I have what I call a 'bar reserve.' A collection of a whole bunch of these bar pieces. If I see connections between some of them, then hey, I now have a bigger piece. That may even inspire a theme. I now have a bigger picture. I then am able to add more to it and now I have a verse. I still have a theme, lets start the second verse

I would absolutely listen to anything Cole has to say about songwriting. This dude is a master

Honestly I always listen to what rappers are saying when you write you have so much to say, I write because I'm usually quite and it's the only way that I can express my feelings I may never rap but writing just give me a sense of feeling sane

I dont rap but i write poetry and i struggled with this same kind of writers block, then i started using the Notebook app on my phone and it basically ended it for good the way cole is saying. Just going through the day anytime i heard a word, a phrase, thought of a quick rhyme, ideas that rhymed, plays on words.. ANYTHING that made my mind click id jot it down immediately. Now i have tons of material to work on and pull inspiration from.

That is actually the most helpful advice on this topic I have ever seen

I've found that being able to control feelings an emotions help you alot with writing music. Example, some days I feel natural about the way the day is going and that tends to make me not want to write music and wait till I feel something to write music, but lately I've learned to think of certain things that I've been wanting to write about, like a few topics, then I sit down in silence and only focus on those things, then once im in that State of what ever it was that I wanted to talk about, I then put a beat on and start writing or freestyling on record. Cole has helped me a lot with pushing myself to write more and train myself to be able to get to the point to where I'm happy with how my music is coming out. Your mind is a muscle, an the more your train it the stronger you get with all things.

I don't understand how some people can't comprehend the lyrical genius behind many of J. Cole's song that we can connect to in a way personally & many write him off as just a "hip hop rapper" but he has a voice that resonates inside a lot of people who at times felt they lost it. Every Saturday morning from 6am to 9am I freestyle to random beats. Out of 3hrs I always come out with one or two bangers. I need 3hrs to play with my imagination. Mostly wack stuff will come out. But eventually your brain will calibrate itself knowing what you want and boom it will come. You gotta put in the work first to obtain luck or results.
