J. Brahms 1st movement Cello Sonata No 1 in E Minor Op 38 in SLOW Tempo

The famous first movement Allegro not troppo from E minor cello sonata op. 38 no. 1 by Johannes Brahms. It is performed in slow tempo (quarter note = 60 BPM) to show how to play cello solo part. The first movement of sonata recorded without piano accompaniment to help cello students with first steps to get ready to start working with a pianist. This is one of the best cello sonatas to choose for a chamber music class, and to work with a cello teacher on the development of attention to sound quality and phrasing.

Thank you for doing this in slow tempo. It’s a very big help while I practice for this difficult but beautiful piece. I am so excited to play it with my sister who is a professional pianist. It’s a great piece showing cello and piano together. Thank you again !

Thank you so much for your kind words. I got this cello almost 20 years ago in Russia. I showed it to several prominent experts, but nobody can tell me who made it. Some suggested it was Italian, some that it was made in Germany, others told me it is has French origins. I am not very upset about it - this is my voice I was fortunate to find.
