Cellopedia

Cellopedia

Hello! My name is Maxim Kozlov. I created Cellopedia as an educational channel with a goal of providing free cello lessons and helping to learn how to play cello to students of all skills and ages, especially those without an opportunity to work with a private cello teacher. We will practice together all scales, etudes by Dotzauer, Lee, Kummer and concert music, including Suzuki Cello School.

    Maxim, can you help me out. At the top of this etude is says - Petit detache. What exactly does that mean? I know what detache means, but wanted to get your expertise on what "petit detache" actually means. I see that you are mainly using shorts bow strokes, keeping it in the center of the bow. Appreciate our help.

  • @Cellopedia
    @Cellopedia5 күн бұрын

    Hello! A good question! It is quite rare to see petit detache. I believe it is a term to make a distinction for gran detashe when you have to use a lot of the bow for each note. This is why I use detashe with fairly little amount of the bow for each note.

    Are you doing it for region like the rest of us? You can start by removing the slurs and play each note in the correct position and tone. Then you can slowly add slurs and dynamics. If you have a private teacher ask her. Or him. Hope this helps.
