My mother died when I was 12 and I am now 29. I am only now, since the past week realizing that I am my mother's daughter and what that actually means. I served that same god from the church for many years that they talked about. Serving that external god that reminding me that i was going to hell and that I was a dirty rag. That god riddled my life with anxiety, depression, and no self worth. When I found the real God, I found myself in the process!

I have to say this episode of Own with Oprah and Iyanla was my most favorite of all. I was pinned to my seat with tears of joy, smiles that brought back memories, amazement that brought out memories from a couple of childhood experiences. Love, joy and pain all in one episode.
