    It looks incredible on bracelet with that blue dial it's so full of character. Black is more versatile but that combo of bracelet and dial colour is perfect. What a great watch!

    Nice review. Lovely watch! I had the Mk 18. The micro extender on your piece is not actually made by IWC. If you look at Glashutte sea Q panorama date diver, which I am lucky enough to own ,its clear its identical. They are actually made by a an Italian firm.

    Thanks CCW, and I appreciate the extra information. I wish more manufacturers would integrate it into their bracelets. No gaps, keeps the links under the clasp, and it’s nice and thin.

    wow, what a beautiful bracelet, not only from a finishing perspective but also engineering. When people try to compare iwc to longines they miss a lot of the details and intricacies such as the bracelet quality, engineering , finishing and in this case an In house calibre with 5 days power reserve. This watch is on the top of my wish list, cheers

    Hey, nice review! Im looking forward to add this one to my collection. How are you dealing with the jumping minutes when setting the time? When I get mina, I will use it with the rubber b integrated strap, so it will be more low profile, as using expensive watches in my country is dangerous… This without a date window would be perfect!

  • @DougFNJ

    I prefer the Chrono on strap, the endlinks on the Chrono stick out a bit far compared to how it sits on a strap. I prefer the Mark XX on bracelet. Sits perfect. So it would all come down to preference of strap vs bracelet.

  • @whereRbearsTeeth

    @whereRbearsTeeth

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, they do. Unfortunately, they aren’t the only Swiss brand that lies to its consumers about movements being “in house.” And you are exactly the type of buyer that they are looking for. The movement is manufactured by ValFleurier, which is owned by Richemont, which in turn owns IWC. Furthermore, the movement is based on the 32110 caliber. VF also manufactures this movement, and IWC also calls this movement “in house.” And it gets even better… the the architecture of the 32110 is based on the ETA 2892. So calling 32111 movement in house is just ridiculous. But if that’s what it takes for you to justify the price that IWC charges for these watches, by all means tell yourself that it’s in house.

  • @DougFNJ

    @DougFNJ

    @@whereRbearsTeeth You could say the same about Swatch group movements and Omega, Longines, Hamilton, Tissot, etc. which you did say IWC isn’t the only one. IWC is part of Richemont, they build the movements, IWC refines them. Discussions in IWC groups criticize the movements being based on ETA movements, but there are differences. Not all ETA movements are made the same. I’ve talked with a Watchmaker about this. There are higher end ETA movements made by the Swiss, and certified. There are lower end ETA movements sourced by China loosely labeled Swiss made all with the same number designation. And there are Swiss movements like IWC 32111 and 69xxx series based on ETA movements, design decisions, sizes and some components are similar, but there are differences, there had to be as there are patents. I have a bronze spitfire Chrono. They say 69380 is based on the 7750. I’ve had watches with the 7750. The sub dials are different between the 2, the winding is smoother, there is no “wobble” with fast wrist movement, or quality issues I’ve had with 7750 where the rotor spins when handwinding. There’s also a longer power reserve, and they’ve been making them thinner. Value does also show in other areas, design, case materials, in this case bracelet technology.

    @@DougFNJ Swatch is another large conglomerate that does the same thing. However, they pretty much use eta for their lower tier brands, like the several that you mentioned. Except I believe Omega is manufacturing everything fully in house now. The point here is, the caliber 32111 in the Mark XX is NOT an in house movement because it is neither designed or manufactured by IWC. It is made by a completely separate movement company. In fact, the movement itself is also used in other richemont brands. IWC does manufacture some of their own movements. However this is not one of them.
