Putting a series out for the boys

I always loved how sakuyahime is secretly the actual "villain" of the story, and did all those things to prevent the elixir to get to her since iirc the elixir and other adjacent things kinda mess up with some gods a bit too strongly, like I remember the point device potion in 15 could annihilate native gods like suwako if she drunk that. Sakuyahime being kind of an asshole is also fitting for her being the reason her sister mountain was cut down too because she was jealous. I also like how the way the Sakuyahime details are hidden in plain sight that reveal a secret facet of the story is something that was very common in the early touhou content, like the reveal about a third god being sealed in the moriya shrine, and the actual reasons and motivations yukari actually had that led her to invade the capital first by herself and then with everyone else and her feelings on the matter likely related to renko and merry

@@mrtheman5061 the third god would be the god that is actually enshrined in the moriya shrine of the real world, the god whose wife was the basis for Kanako too. In MoF Sanae has a spellcard named after him. I can't remember at this moment what was the name exactly but if you look up the spellcards you'll see it. The end of silent sinner in blue there is a chapter entirely dedicated to yukari and ran finding out about this god and another important one being sealed away in two shrines by the lunarians

Iwakasa deserved the Father of the Year award and he wasn't even Mokou's freaking father.

Thank you for making this video. Mokou's chapter in CiLR is one of the greatest things that has ever come out of Touhou, and everyone should read it, if not for the "lore", just for being a great story. You focused on Iwakasa's part of the chapter, but the chapter touches on a lot of other topics related to immortality and Mokou's relationship with Kaguya. So, uh, yeah, it's great and Touhou fans should check it out. :)

I've never seen anyone dive this deep into Iwakasa and his importance to the story, especially how much he's influenced Mokou and was like a father figure to her, really wonderful video. Also very excited to see more of this series, love to see the few guys in the series get the spotlight for a bit

Hopefully there will be another episode to this series 🫠 (touhou writing advice doesn't look hot right now)

Yeah. Terrible/evil/abusive father characters is something that have appeared too many times in fictions. Almost all fictional stories ever existed, especially the more famous ones. And it’s kinda frightening and frustrating.

I tend to think what Mokou has been doing to herself with immortality, like practising fire magic that inflicts an egregious amount of pain to herself instead of less painful techniques, is partially self-harm due to her sense of guilt.

Looking forward to the more of this new series. Especially some “better not become legit characters” male characters.

Another interesting character mentioned in Mokou's CiLR chapter is Iwanagahime. Her name was actually dropped 2 more times in Touhou print works, first time in Forbidden Scrollery, where Akyuu prayed to her for long life and another time in Lotus Eaters, where she was mentioned as the goddess of sake among other things. Knowing the fact that the Youkai mountain is Yatsugatake, it's basically confirmed that she lives in Gensokyo, but she's yet to show up in any Touhou works

I love that you're doing these summaries now, and have started with this one. This story plays a huge part in Mokou's arc in the doujin manga I've been writing and editing. This arc of mine also gives Mokou a boyfriend (Danuja) and has her meet the sister (Iwanagahime), whom Keine happens to know (as do Yuuka, Kasen, Okina, and Yukari). Anyways, yes, thank you for this video. =)

wow, Mokou allways was one of my favorite characters, only because of her design and cool fire powers, but this makes her so much more special, i almost got sentimental, thank you for sharing this.

Wow, looking forward to hearing the rest of this seriesanditsdone. But seriously, curious which male characters we have enough info for. Have a few mentioned fathers, Byakuren's brother, Rinnosuke, Genji, Unzan, and the moon lord. A good one might be Fortune Teller, to clear up the reason why Reimu thought he was an existential threat and why his case was different from other humans-turned-yokai in Gensokyo.

Despite that I’ve read this very entry myself, I never realized about the hidden doings of that goddess. Nor did I realize that Mokou’s current lifestyle is the result of what happened when she was really young. Man I missed a lot of details

Thanks for explaining the story! I knew bits and pieces, but not the whole thing. Do we know what happened to Mokou's father in the end? Did she come to face him after becoming immortal?

As far as we know, Mokou’s father never met Mokou ever again after she became immortal. He’s theorized to be Kuramochi no Miko from the actual “Tale of Princess Kaguya”, so he was likely still alive

@@BergmitetheBlueandPointy0712 He tried to fraud Kaguya by making a jeweled branch with craftsman which ended up fooling almost everyone. Kaguya’s response was to reward the craftsmen, and then Kuramochi punished the craftsmen out of spite. So all in all he was a pretty bad person.

It's hunny how SSiB has such a bad reputation that it stops peole from reading it's amazing companion piece.

She was completely lost in life until she did the medieval equivalent of "hitting the gym with the boys" and then she finally became happy. Sadly she betrayed her gym bro just to get a chance to avenge her simp father who left to get the unobtainable magic milk (Kaguya gamer girl bathwater) and never came back. She did a horrible thing for an unjust cause and she even executed her own punishment.
