Lord, he was an ASTOUNDING pianist in his 1980s peak years. Has anyone ever played Chopin's 16th prelude with this fire and accuracy?

thank you again ivo for your life to music, and gazda for sharing. perfection and eternity exist, there is hope, beauty, truth. " music takes you to another universe of eternity that remains with you after the concert is finished. if you have long sound you are in command to achieve clarity and the hypnotic sound between the notes. the problem was always the conflict and the difference between the absolute and the relative quality. beauty in music is like in diamonds, the purest diamond in the world is the Koh-i-Noor, it is the absolute beauty to which others with relative beauty are compared. most music I could hear was just an ostentatious circus act of virtuoso pieces for up-and-coming pianists, tests of finger dexterity, not art. you have to get into the phycological frame of mind in which composers wrote their works in order to discover its secrets. I do not practice excercises. When I practice a piece, I do a few variations around it, inventing my own excercises to help in that particular place. Technique is the art of variety, the art of knowing how to adjust your hand to a particular group of notes to produce a particular sound to fit the particular expectation of the ear. sound becomes metaphysical only when you have completely explored all physical possibilities. you should explore until reaching the absurd. one should always try as much as possible to rediscover music as though one is hearing it for the first time, searching everywhere for new meanings and new depths. Be constantly engaged in research, I am not only looking at things the way they appear but also trying to find the labyrinths, the secrets of music. A composition can only be performed well if it is entirely yours, not only every note from memory, but the notes have become you, and you have become the notes. Nothing happens by chance. Call it a force that some people think controls what happens in the future, and is outside human control, call it preordination, but sometimes happens. After all, the human element brings total happiness." Ivo Pogorelich. --------

Interpretaciones prodigiosas.Un Brahms de antologia. Un pianista, en esos años, decididamente genial.

Pogorelich at his prime. Listen how he builds everything in prelude n.17 for the lasts cords which explain his thoughts. Someone can admire, hate or reject his musical angle. But, this is a recital of a genius. In the DG recordings is focusing to the most demanding technique that only him could pay the price of practicing. Maestro, thank you for your pianistic lessons.

The recording of this concert should be edited and preserved on CD for posterity, it is perhaps one of the most extraordinary renditions of these works in a live recital that exist, Pogorelich really was at that time the greatest pianist in the world, both the LIszt's and CHopin Brahms's versions of the sonata itself have an energy, vitality, strength, and drama that their own CD versions of these same works failed to reflect. Clearly Pogorelich on stage was a complete artist whereas in the recording studio for some reason his own interpretations of these pieces turn a bit pale compared to the magnificent performances of him being layered on stage.

@@castbreeder1 I know this is the common self-gratifying narrative, and certainly he had crises as well as problems with his hands. But tell me just one thing: did you actually take the time to listen through his February 2022 release before you went to sleep in that narrative ? For instance, the Largo of op. 58 ? Just say yes or no before you go listen.

@@TheSoteriologist It's not narrative. I have listened his interviews many times and it's not even a secret how big influence she was. (hint, I'm from croatia and have opportunity more often to listen his interviews, performances or hear some insights about him than most people around the world) All this doesn't mean it's impossible to perform great, rather that become exception

@@castbreeder1 It's quite possible that you have good reasons for saying this, and I am sure that his decline was much faster in comparison with other players due to the mentioned setbacks. My question still remains the same: so did you ? It is probably true that I'd rather wait for the next release from the studio now than hearing him live even though his _"Op.11 ..Shades of Zagreb, 2012"_ was live and makes even Argerich sound boring when you listen to 16:05 - 18:12 of the version on the channel "Gazda Mitke II". I hope you might see my point for saying what you initially responded

These Messianic artists appear on the human plane, the 4th kingdom, every so often per every thousand years. Some every 150 years, other times every 200 years, whatever is the Divine Plan to keep our human evolution moving forward to its eventual destination to the 7th Round, 7th root-race, millions of years from now, when humans , humanity, would have evolved to be Dhyan Chohans, Dhyan Buddhas. Every step forward has a messiah, a saviour to show us, the unwashed, the ignorant, the defiled, the way of forgiveness, the way of brotherly love, the way of humility and loving-kindness always immanent in our sacred hearts, where the Jewel in The Lotus resides eternally. ❤❤❤
