I think it's important when an owner takes into account the mental health of his machines. Knowing they'd both be lonely if left alone, and bringing them together shows why he's a pro!

#letsdig18 That 220 with no thumb is like trying to eat soup with a fork. Your 220 is stronger. More psi on your work, because of the smaller bucket. In most cases, with John's 220, you need to dig a lot wider which means more of the roots to resist you and more dirt to replace. For hogging out, of course you want a bigger bucket, but just for trees, that bucket is perfect or it could even be narrower. How much for Volvo's quick connect? I bet a small fortune. :)

I bet that little bucket with the cutting edges actually is a pretty good stumping tool, even if it does chew up the trunks when dragging logs around. It doesn't have to rip up as much dirt to get down and pull up roots, and the choppers probably cut thru the roots pretty good.

At 35:38, when you were taking out the big tree I noticed that the camera was picking up vibration! _Even when you were maneuvering the Volvo to dig, you could see the vibration & especially when digging!_ (Looked like the camera was 25' away?) Anyway, pretty crazy that side of the dam vibrates more than the other side! _Or was it just the Volvo?_ I mean, when you did the same shot to the right in the Hitachi, it didn't vibrate! The Volvo does have a great hydraulic hum to it! ~ Seems I was right about the Springs!? (I'm pretty sure it was your initial clearing/tour video of the Minnow pond. When that one root hole started filling up with water. Or am I getting ponds mixed up?) ~~ Anyhoo, you sure got quite a bit done there! (I'm still amazed by the amount of dirt you moved & hauled by yourself on the other job) Keep recording & keep cool! *James* AKA: SSArt98

I thought to myself, self, you've got to get yourself some dinner, settle down in front of the computer and watch to your hearts content. So nice. Thanks Chris. One note. Could you either slow down the speed of your panning of the camera or get yourself a gimble camera adaptor. That way we viewers with weak stomachs don't get motion sickness watching you pan from here to there. Where are Tim and John? Stay safe and healthy my friend.

Hopefully when you get your thumb you bought it were you can DE attach it and put other instruments on it that way you have multi use tool other than just a thumb make it so you can have a quick release and hook up another device and deal go on interning there anything you want

That boom seems faster, it may just be the smaller bucket, those cutter edges should be good for root ripping. If I only had a THUMB.

Hey Chris, I don't know if you've addressed this in other videos but, why do you go for the Yanmar mini over the Volvo? Just curious.

Love that Volvo..!! Are you going to tint the windows?? Definitely miss a thumb & a twist wrist when you don't have one...Is the cabin filter still a pain to change or did they improve it so you don't have to lay over the seat ...

Fan of your show... Watched you pull, push, and dig out thousands of trees, watched you burn piles and piles of logs. Ca't help wondering if the Buffalo hunters in the 1800's didn't think the buffaloes would never run out... I live in a dry and thirsty land and it amazes me that America has so much water and so many trees to waste by burning them in pits.

Does the smaller bucket with the cutting edges seem easier to dig roots? I know it isn't a true comparison because it is much smaller but your quite experienced so I think you could tell.

After watching so many of your videos with your AMI LG18 bucket & thumb, watching this video is like watching you operate with one " hand" tied behind your back.

Nice video Tim. you need some sort of remote control so you can run both machines at one time. The new 220 is a smooth machine. Ps need to slow down swinging the camera. Made me dizzy.

Good day sir. You talk about dead trees and getting the roots out so they don’t create tunnels etc. that would compromise the dam, but then you dig out roots to take trees down and rebury those roots in the stump hole. Wouldn’t that do the same thing as far as causing tunnels etc. in the dam as they rot? Just wondering or are the roots your burying away from the dam?
