Finally! I saw someone agreeing with my thoughts. V already had previous contact with the cube that's why his one eye is like that. He is not originally blind, IU caressing his perfect face through the camcorder means that's how V looked like before all these cubes dominated the earth. IU seemed to be the one dragging along and protecting V and V being more afraid because he's already on the verge of disappearing, he is already very vulnerable because he only got one eye left. They are not allowed to stare at the flying cubes. Thus, at the end, IU is covering V's undamaged eye to slow down his melting and her widely opening both her eyes while looking at the cube to catch-up and keep-up with V's melting so that both of them could vanish at the same time. That's why it's LOVE WINS ALL. No one is left behind; they were together until the end.

Sry i dont agree with that LWA story is abt disabled or minority ppl or apocalyptic , alien , zombie theorys interpretations & I also believe that it's NOT abt IU protecting Tae and they're representing them both just as couple in a love story.... the MV has a defferent deeper meaning like Celebrites / artists like them in the entertainment industry judged by ppl/fans / haters abt their personal choices in love life IU ( her charecter is deaf or mute in the MV) representing ppl in love the ones who don't want to HEAR or TALK what the society /fans tell them wrong and right abt their Love life / personal life Taehyung (his character is partialy blind) representing True/pure LOVE = Love doesn't need to be perfect it just need to be TRUE or LOVE IS BLIND ( Tae showing almost every emotions of LOVE : Fear , cuteness , pure , tender , Joyful /playful , romance , togetherness . helplessness , bravery , Rage , calmness...in 5 minute MV Dammnn!! It's very heartbreaking, from the story line, to their acting to her voice to the lyrics, everything 😭

This is the best mv in this year The love story is so emotional IU voice is beautiful. Both IU and Tae were perfect in acting. I love it.

The Cube represents society, it is chasing every individual who doesn't fit the standards of society. Here V is half blind, IU is deaf and mute. So they are running from oppression of society. The world is controled by these standards of perfection to the point that people in South Korea put masks on when they don't have make-up or when they feel unsecure or they wear hats when their hair is messy. The MV is a dysopian view of our society. While they are trying to hide in this abondonned place filled with the clothes of people who died because of this oppression, they find a camera that allows them to have an illusion of what their lives could be if they were "normal" by society's standards, it starts with their looks, they could see how they would have looked like, then what they would eat, then they start to feel the illusion a bit too much to the point they beautifully imagine that IU could sing and V could sing as well and she could listen to his voice, they could marry each other and just have fun and eat whatever they want because they wouldn't have to care about society or any other kind of oppression. However, as soon as they feel a little bit of confort and try to live their life, the Cube (society) finds them again and push them to retreat and flee again, but the Cube managed to find them again, they try to survive against it and try to fight it as hard as they can, but they cannot beat a stronger system, they just give up but at least they stayed together until the end. Even if they died at the end, they loved each other deeply, it shows that even if society is oppressive, people can love each other and they can find their soulmate even if they are not "normal or perfect" to the eyes of some many others. The pile of clothes is like from Spring Day, these people died because of injustice, but they deserved love, so the pile of clothes can look very gloomy and sad, but as in Spring Day MV if you don't forget them you can seem them happy and free where they are now.

You are the only genuinely reacted to that mv that I've seen so far, legit teared up without pretentious, you deserve more followers.

Yes they did announce it beforehand, posters & trailers featuring him were released too, so no it wasn’t a surprise. Also Taehyung & IU are really good friends for few years now. You can watch them candidly talking to each other in an episode of IU’s palette ep.24 ‘V’egin again, it’s on her official youtube channel.
