In the last few years she's lost 3 close friends to suicide, because of the unnecessary hate and pressure they received from the public. The lizard that turns into a dragon in the video represents one of those friends named Jonghyun, who was a part of the group Shinee, and sadly passed away a few years ago. He was also really close with Taehyung, and many people mourned his death. People say he was represented this way because he was known for being a huge fan of the pokemon charmander. The girl in white who ends up on the back of the dragon is speculated to represent the 2 other people she lost, Sulli and Goo hara, who were lost last year because of the amount of hate they received from the public. IU is most likely the girl in the plane, who cries while smiling while looking out the window seeing how happy they are in the afterlife, and her tear in the real life counterpart could represent that she's found some sort of closure. Overall a really good song, IU and Suga were said to have both contributed a lot to the production, finding themselves to work really well together because they had a lot in common. IU has been in the industry for many many years as she started at a really young age. Her real name is Lee Ji-Eun and she is the same age as Suga. She is also an actress and I love her latest drama recently called ‘Hotel De Luna’. Do watch it if you have the time. She’s also a very well respected singer in Korea. We believe this song is dedicated to her really close friends in the Kpop industry who took their own lives. They are Jonghyun (from SHINee), Goo Hara & Sulli. Jonghyun took his life in 2017 and the other 2 girls took theirs last year. If you know this back story here of her losing her close friends, this song hits differently when you read the lyrics again. IU also had a heavy hand in the songwriting and composition. Suga served as a producer but also lent his vocal for the track. he also has done the beats in the track. And I believe the melody as well. I know after the song's release he would not listen to it because he says he knew he would hear things that he could have done better. I U is someone to check out. She's been in the game forever. I got into Kpop around 2010 and I U was already a very well established singer and actress, even though she was so very young. I think she debuted in (2006-2007?). She's been through A LOT and has suffered the loss of three of her best friends in recent years. She remains so sweet and humble, despite the dark side of fame. I think she is so very talented and graceful. Def THE OG Queen and is admired and respected by her peers. Eight is her favorite number, BTW and has symbolic meaning for her friends that have passed. Eight years of friendship with Sulli (RIP) and JJong was born on 4/8. I'm not sure how it connects to Goo Hara, but on the side, it is the infinity symbol, so in her memory, her friends will be "forever young" and now that they're together, hopefully (and finally) happy. It is a very difficult song and video to listen to and watch because it will never be enough time elapsed to "get over" such senseless losses in Kpop.

Oh dear- what I love about this collab is that it’s so symbiotic. BTS is so global and IU is LITERALLY the Queen of Korean music industry (biased opinion but it’s pretty accurate). This collab is earth-shattering. Hail the Kings and QUEEN. So happy for her- I’m ARMY through and through but IU undeniably a Queen and I was floored to the point of tears when I heard the news- IU deserves as much producing credit when international BTS ARMYs learn about her and this collab. His death shook me to the core and on the day I found out, I kept apologizing to him for not being to able to do anything when he was alive. Sulli was my bias in her group f(x), and Hara was my bias in her group KARA. Their deaths impacted me so much, and I cannot even imagine how IU could have handled loosing 3 of her precious friends. A collaboration with Yoongi is brilliant. Yoongi himself have faced so many challenges in his past, that he was able to move on and grow from. Meanwhile IU started her career when she was so so young. Being the same age, I feel that the both of them can feel a special connection with one another.

A lot has changed for me since that tragic incident so when I've found out about Sulli it took me back to that time I found out about Jonghyun. This song is so overwhelming to be but I love it.

Beautiful lady wonderful singer. First came across her in the drama Moon Lover's. I think it was her first acting gig or one of her first and she knocked it out of the park.
