Full contact rapid set mortar. Manufactured to be a bit soupy after mixed.. Notice how the ridges aren't slumping?... The thinset is created this way for large format tile so no back buttering is required. This method these guys are using is legit. Nice, clean, flat, uniform work.

Not sure what adhesive you use but in Europe we use this stuff so we don't have to back butter the tiles. It's more expensive to buy but you save time...never tried this tool though

A lot of critics, however if this was your daily job I am sure it is a back saver.

Yes the mud looks crazy wet but it obviously works or I doubt they'd be hired to do a commercial job like this.

many full contact mortars such as mapei ultracontact exhibit such properties very runny in appearance are spec for large format tile. as for so called experts keep on doing what you are doing i make living redoing substandard work seems to be no shortage so thanks

mud is way 2 wet

Not necessary. There are thinsets available for floor tiling only which are much runnier that those what you use also wall tiling.

These guys are promoting to selling the tool

They're not keying in the mortar before combing it. You're supposed to key it in first. I wonder if they are going to back butter it too.

If you use big enough notch on trowel you don't need to back butter tile and basically when you pull mud back and forth few times over same area with notched side of trowel it's same if you key it with straight edge of trowel.

I use a helper to spread the mix while i am installing , much faster and cleaner job and easy for both of us plus it coasts less to pay a guy just to spread the thinset for you than wasting time with that stupid rake

Too time consuming, by the time they adjust the box edge in place, start smearing thethinset. They could’ve had half the row installed.

Too went. and i honestly think that if i did by hand would've been faster

Sorry, this doesn't seem faster at all. It took 2 minutes to trowel 10 s/f. I could have troweled and set the tile in that amount of time.

Yes, Hyundai cars are the best. But service is not provided. No one satisfies for minor and major works.

to wet, it works or why would they be hired to do a job like this, no back buttering...... All good points, but Lift a tile off and show us the coverage on the back of a tile, Proof's in the pudding. Go back the next day with a hammer and hit the tile square in the center lets see if after 24 hours it bust now 48 hours and 64 hours. A wet thinset will take longer to cure. It might be wet because the shop has to open in 3 days. who knows the reason's. Does it work? we wouldn't know without lifting a tile or testing the quality of the work. This might just be the best idea yet.

That tile grouting machine is horrible... What you save in time you lose in cleanup not to mention so much wasted grout money out your pocket you be there five times longer cleaning up behind that machine what a piece of junk......
