This was Italy's best performance under Trapattoni. It was one of the few occasions where he selected an adventurous starting eleven and allowed them off the leash. Of course he had to go for it because he approached the first group game against Denmark with his trademark cautious ways and dropped two points. For over an hour it was an absolute battering, but thanks to a very wasteful Vieri, Sweden were always in it and inevitably drew level.

If the ref booked Paulsen who had did huge number of dirty sheet on Totti, ITALY could take 2 more pts easily, and kept boring play while 0:0 against Swenden under Trap.

Euro 2004 was the worst performance from trapattoni's team.

Italy's golden generation from 2000 until they peaked at the world cup 2006. Unfortunately, they then continued to decline at Euro 2008 and the world cup two years later due to the poor regeneration

The golden generation was from 1994 to 2006.

@@Peter-cs9eu I think he's talking about the generation of Cannavaro, Nesta, Totti, Del Piero, Vieri, Zambrotta, Inzaghi etc. who only really started to establish themselves in the NT at WC98 and Euro2000.

Our golden generation got incredibly unlucky at the wc 1994 and went under bad managers like Cesare Maldini or the wrong ones at the wrongest time like Trapattoni. If that team didn't even win a single trophy it would have been a national disaster, luckily they at least got the 2006 wc

I would have liked to see Toldo's performance in the goal of Italy, he had better skills than Buffon
